so i was wondering......did anyone else get a wii mainly for the virtual console besides me? i dont really care about the disc games or the wiiware games. i just mainly have all VC games (around 107 i think WITHOUT hacking) and those are the only games i actually play. i'm a big oldschool gamer and i dont really like the motion controls anyway lol. so i was just wondering if there is anyone else out there got a wii just for the VC =)

Naw, i got it because of the exclusives really (MP3, SMG 1+2, NMH 1+2 etc...) but the VC is dope. I'm pretty sure there is some people out there like you though.

Exclusives are the reason I get any console/handheld system but the idea of doing legally what the Xbox could be "changed" to do was a nice idea.

Edit: Honestly, though I actually have an NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, N64, Dreamcast, PS2 (1 original - 1 slim), GameCube and Xbox to play any old games - there's something about playing the real game on the real system that makes it feel more special.

I do like the idea of the 4-in-1 retro adapter available for Wii that lets you plug in NES, Genesis, SNES and N64 conrollers in for VC games, though.

I have multiple retro consoles too, though mostly Nintendo :P

But anyway, one reason why I really wanted the Wiiwas because of VC and BC. Oh yes, I remember how hyped I was. And I love it really, when I get the Wii 2 (it has appearently been confirmed that Wii VC games (atleast) will be transferable to the Wii 2) I will be getting it for it's VC too, and ofcorse, its exclusives.

Though I am a bit of am old school gamer, I'm also a purist. I prefer playing the games on their original system. My Wii is primarily for Wii games.

SMG1/2 and SSBB are the only Wii games that are worth playing if you have a Wii IMO, in addition to the classic VC games which unfortunately are locked to the console they were downloaded to (very silly).

It's a good thing the Wii was a gift rather than something I purchased myself, because it definitely doesn't seem worth the money for what it is. The PS3 was a much better investment.

yea i use to have a NES, SNES, and N64, but i let my friend keep them at his place when i lost my job and had to move out. he lives about an hour away now and i dont wanna travel down all that way just to ply my old games lol. most of the games i had on my original consoles are on VC anyway. plus you gotta admit...it sure is nice to have all your games in one convienant place and not have to constantly set up and put away multiple systems just to play certain games. especially if u have a lot of guys over and they all wanna play different games lol.

the VC/Wiiware is def a reason to get a Wii. It is like having 10 systems in 1, something that ps3 and xbox360 cant say. But its crazy to not get some of the amazing Wii games that are out. Esp Nintendo developed ones. I'm more old school and have 70 Wiiware/VC games, but i also have 40 on disc. and thats just Wii. I have 10 games for my PS3. yea, 10.

VC is awesome, but there are so many classic games that aren't included in its library yet. After five years it is really disappointing. Especially since it started off so well.

The VC is one of the main reasons I bought a Wii. I missed out on so many good titles, so I was very happy to see that many of them were available for download at good prices. I really wanna get Super Metroid and Chrono Trigger but I need more Nintendo Points. :[

Of coourse it wasn't the only reason to get a Wii (actually Twilight Princess was the thing that triggered that), but it was a HUGE postive aspect of the console that did influence my decision of purchase.

Since update 4.0 most, if not any, VC/WiiWare games can be copied to any standard SD card. Those files can, then, be copied to any PC. Then those same files can be burned onto CD or DVD depending on user preference.

Of course files can be copied but can they be played on anything besides the Wii they were downloaded for, assuming there isn't any extreme hacking/modification involved?

The "WTF" was just a remark on the sheer number of console games this guy has, let alone for just the Wii. I didn't realize the Wii had more than 10 disc games worth paying for. :P Just messing .... That's still a crapload of games for one console though, jeeze.

People like you hurt the Wii. The system has always suffered software tie-in ratios which causes developers to not make games for the system. VC games are awesome so I really don't blame you but you should try some retail and Wiiware games.

I think he meant that he owns 70 downloadable games and has 40 retail Wii games in disk format. But either way that is an incredible amount of video games. o_o Also yes you can store Wii software on pretty much anything, but games are locked to one system. If you put them on any other Wii they don't work.

Nah, I'd rather buy the games for their original systems. It doesn't feel the same to me when it's emulated. I want to play the original system with the original controllers. It's a good way to have a collection without using a lot of physical storage space though.

I can relate. While I did not buy a wii just for the virtual console, I do find myself playing retro games a lot more. Most wii games pale in comparison to SNES and N64 classics. For the past week, I've been playing Ogre Battle 64 and it is far better than ANY JRPG to be released this gen or last, imo.

over the years I have filled up all 20 pages (give or take about 10 slots) with VC/Wiiware, With Chrono Trigger being my latest installment. Ya, my money could probably be spent better, but in all honesty? I love being able to have so many generations of video games in one place. (not to mention my 16 gig card still have lots of room for all of my Rockband 3 DLC)

As I still own my older consoles, it was more of a bonus. Some games I could finally catch up on without eBay and some stuff for the first time available in my country. I wouldn't want to miss the service in the future.
