Why is it taking so long for Nintendo to release the good old games to the Virtual Console? And why on earth has companies like Microsoft started to release classic Nintendo-games like "Banjo-Kazooie"?? Such a shame...

Virtual Console has not lived up to my expectations, not at all. Nowadays, it seems they´re only releasing games the mainstream gamer never has even heard of! Where are the games we played and loved, the games that we would love to play again - on Wii?

Any answers or complaints??

There's a ton of great games on the Virtual Console.

Expecting Nintendo to release all their games at once is not reasonable.

Your high expectations are what's causing the troubles for you.

Considering we're probably just now half way through the Wii's life, assuming we should have even more games right now is silly.

All right first off, Banjo Kazooie is Rare owned. Nintendo never owned it, and now Microsoft owns Rare. Don't take this offensively, but get it in your head somehow that Banjo Kazooie will not appear on the VC. It will never happen. 2nd, this is just another complaint topic about the "lack" of VC titles. Emphasis on lack.

Its defiantly lived past my expectations. I have bought many games I never played(Sonic 3, LTTP) and games I had not played for years(Star Fox 64). Yeah Some games like Sonic And Knuckles and Donkey Kong 64 I am waiting for but the amount of great games out makes up for it.

Overall it has but lately it has been slowing down.....Maybe they will release a popular game to boost things up a little. My main disappointment is that Earthbound hasn't and won't be released on vc because of copyrights unless they change things in the game.

I love the VC. I have 50 games and there's still a bunch more I want. I do wish they'd release more than 1 game a week though. TC, seriously, what games are you waiting for? And don't say anything that is liscensed or developed by Rare.

Does this mean that I am not a "mainstream" gamer? I mean, I certainly know a lot of those games that 'no one has ever heard of or played' Also, what is a "mainstream" gamer anyway? Are air tunnels involved in the equation?

Absolutely. I don't have enough time or money to get all the games I want that are currently available. Yeah sure, there's some games I want that aren't released yet (Harvest Moon 64, Ogre Battle 64 to name a few), but it's unreasonable for me to think that Nintendo is going to design this service specifically to my wants and needs.

I have no complaints with the VC or Wiiware. It seems like i'm gettting a game every month or so. It would be nice to get some of the games i want, but there is a few more years to see if they come out. However, overall, it is way better then either of the other consoles services.

VC have Ocarina of time (best game of all time) and a lot more of interesting titles!!

The problem is that people bash VC cause they just want N64 games, the other ones can be played... (well better not mention that) and they're not interested in paying 5 or 8$

I have 5 VC games and i'm very satisfied:OT, MK64 (N64), Mario 3, Sonic (Nintendo & MasterS) & Secret of Mana (Snintendo)

Claps ninty :) VC owns

It's sad to see so many people who just want games they already played and beating and not give a lot of other great games they HAVE NOT played a chance. I think the VC is one of the Wii best strong points.

Expectations play a lot in scores, opinions and such... Not taking those things into account though means you can really only talk about the method of delivery. TBH when I heard about the VC, it supported NES, SNES, and N64... I figured those libraries would eventually be fleshed out a lot more than they have. Instead, it seems they have hit a limit with how much 3rd party support they are going to get. To make up for it they add in Genesis, Neo Geo, TurboGraphix, Commador 64 (really?)... I would have much preferred it stuck with fewer consoles and fleshed out each of the libraries. So is it flawed to expect the libraries to flesh out better than they have? I think they should have and as such the VC is quickly becoming something that is failing my expectations... To the point I don't even think it is a selling point anymore.

I just want Nintendo to realese better games on it, like Goldneye, but they can add wi-fi multiplayer to it,or they can release the original Super Smash Bros, or they can release Majora's Mask. If they release those, i would get them, other than that, i don't use the VC, except for when i bought Ocarina of Time.

Ocarina of Time FTW!!!

It might, or it might not. MM utilized the N64 Expansion Pack, which means it's more difficult to emulate. Along with DK64, these are the only expansion games that could possible be released, so it's up to Nintendo whether or not they want to put in the extra effort.

If you don't own an N64, you could pick up the GC Collector's Disc that has Majora as well as Ocarina and Zelda 1 & 2. I have to warn you that I've heard it can freeze due to bad emulation, though I haven't experienced any problems personally.

I just want Nintendo to realese better games on it, like Goldneye, but they can add wi-fi multiplayer to itmarteen6

Goldeneye will never be released on the VC, because it's a liscensing nightmare. Also, the VC is meant to have the games in their original form, so added features are out of the question.

more systems more happy gamers!! BTW if you dont like it, who cares!! VC still selling a lot and that's the point

Nes & Snes library's are awesome while N64 is a little short but with Stronggames in it!! realise it

for sure the next points i get will go directly to genesis and master system

Stop right there... So if we have more systems instantly more people will be happy. Maybe... remember my expectations weren't that it would have every system known to man, but rather it would have fleshed out libraries of certain systems it already said were present. Yet if you even bring up this fact people will cry that 'they have to stager the good stuff - if you release it all at once, people will then lose interest' - Sorry, I already lost interest because they quit focussing on the systems I actually wanted the VC for. Sure more systems is great... but this is now at the expense, from what I can tell, of more games for the already announced systems. I personally think the VC is on the ropes and they have to find something, anything, to throw on it because they are affraid releasing their own stuff would truly prove the demise of the VC... It's only icing on the cake for getting people to spend $5 on a C64 game...

I'm telling you though it won't happen. Even though Donkey Kong is now a part of Nintendo, Rare still developed Donkey Kong 64 nevertheless, and Nintendo needs Rare's permission which would mean going through Microsoft. No chance. I don't like it either, but the best thing to do is accept it and move on. I'm not telling you to do that I'm just saying that would be the best option.

That is incorrect. When Rare and Nintendo split, Nintendo gained the full rights to all games with their characters (Donkey Kong) and Rare gained full rights to all games with their characters (everything other than Donkey Kong). Haven't you realized that there are already three Donkey Kong games on the VC developed by Rare?

Nintendo own's Donkey Kong, it is theirs and not Rare's, it doesn't matter if Rare made it.

Nintendo just has to release it on VC, what is Rare going to do, sue.

I understand Goldeneye 007, because it is NOT a Nintendo franchise.

It is Rare versus the millions of Nintendo fans that want DK 64 on VC.

Let the hate mail to Rare begin!

This is EXACTLY how I feel about the vc. I would have preferred that Nintendo left out other developers' consoles altogether, and instead focused on emulating all of their own older consoles. They already own most of their own 1st and 2nd party stuff, so getting it on there really shouldn't be as difficult as it has been. So yes, we do have a lot of great games already, most of the major games too, but our expectations of using the virtual console as an archive of every NES, SNES, N64 (and dare I say it...GB, GBC and GBA...) title ever produced, has been mostly dashed. Those of us who were hoping to have Japanese titles translated to English and ported to the US vc, and those of us who never got to try those obscure hit titles probably won't find what they're after on the virtual console. So next time someone buys a Wii with the idea that their favorite old-school games like T & C Surf Designs and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Arcade will be released on it, will be sorely disappointed. It isn't a complete library of older games, just whatever NOA decides to put on it.

Its defiantly lived past my expectations. I have bought many games I never played(Sonic 3, LTTP) and games I had not played for years(Star Fox 64). Yeah Some games like Sonic And Knuckles and Donkey Kong 64 I am waiting for but the amount of great games out makes up for it.TheColbert

Donkey Kong 64 won't come out on the VC. It's a Rare game. But then again, isn't Donkey Kong a Nintendo owned property like Mario? I guess maybe it will then.

Ovirew

Oh I'm sorry I didn't realize that 3rd party support on 3rd party systems was a bad thing and that it interferes with more Nintendo software Nintendo didn't have to invite anything 3rd party, at all.

While I'm at it, Nintendo didn't have to set up VC in the first place! Seems to me you're basically asking for every single game on every Nintendo system ever made to be available on VC, and part of the reason is because of the 3rd party support is getting in the way of what Nintendo could release

[QUOTE="raahsnavj"]Expectations play a lot in scores, opinions and such... Ovirew

Most of Nintendo's first party games are already out. Nintendo doesn't decide what third party games are released regardless of whether they are on Nintendo systems. If only the NES, SNES, and N64 were on the VC, the service would be exactly like it is now except with over 100 less games.

If you want to blame someone, blame third parties for not wanted to release more games on the service. Don't blame Nintendo for allowing Sega, Hudson, SNK, and Commodore to release games from their own systems. It is only making the VC library larger and more diverse. Some of the best games on the service are on those systems.

[QUOTE="pimpmusterd"]p.s. Does anyone know if they are going to relase Majoras Mask because if they dont i will have to start looking for it eventually.Rocky32189

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! WHY!!! I was waiting for that game to come out on the VC. Great. Now i just hope that Nintendo (or another company) can make a good multiplayer FPS on wiiware instead. Something like Onslaught, but just multplayer games, like death match, capture the flag, fre-for-all, and a type of leel up system, and downloadable weapons.

If you want Goldeneye so bad, why don't you just buy an N64 and a copy of the game. You could probably get both for under $30.

So far I've only picked up Secret of Mana off of the VC. Will probably grab Link to the Past next.

There are far more games currently that I'd love to play than I currently have money for. So yeah, it's living up to my expectations.

The Virtual Console is what made me want a Wii the most. It brought me back to my childhood. It's incredible. :-)
