You know how after playing Guitar Hero, your wall looks like it's moving, since you've been looking at a scrolling image?

Well after playing 3DS for a bit (I don't play my 3DS for super-long periods of time or anything) I noticed sometimes my laptop screen/phone/tv etc. almost look 3D-ish. I'm not saying things like pop out or anything, but I feel like my eyes are trying to look for depth or something when it's not there. It just makes things look kind of layered and offset. It's nothing major, or annoying really, I just thougth it was interesting.

I'm just curious to see if anyone has had this same thing happen to them?

For the record I've never smoked pot or done any other drugs, cause I know a lot of you will think I'm trippin or something :P

I've had the same experience. If I play for a lengthy period of time, then look at my computer monitor, it will almost look as though it's in 3D (even though it's obviously not). Definitely a pretty trippy experience.

Once your eyes get used to seeing the 3D effect then this sensation will stop.

Um...No  I've played Guitar Hero for hours and hours at a time and that's never happened to me.

I got my 3DS at Launch and I've never had any visual problems. I even type on MSN while I'm playing it too. If I play for a long time sometimes my eyes are a bit sore after I stop but that's about it.

Then again I've been a gamer since I was 5 and nothings really ever bothered me like that so :P

After playing the 3DS with 3D on, I've discovered that real life is incredibly flat :P

You all should realize is that you're seeing in 3D and depth in REAL LIFE 100% of the time. The 3DS is taking that "real life" depth and putting it onto a screen. Maybe because you're actually looking for and paying attention to the depth on the 3DS screen, you're FINALLY starting to notice it in real life too. I'm not living in a 2D sidescroller so the 3DS has changed nothing for me.

Haha I didn't say "real life looks 3D now!!" I was saying other screens start looking 3D-ish after playing the 3DS awhile. Those are 2D, obv.

This has happened to me for the past two weeks. Whilst I know I had to give it a few days to get used to the 3D on the console, I still sometimes get that weird 3D effect on my laptop, especially when looking at black text on a white background. It's weird, but my eyes don't seem to strain or ache from the illusion. I think its more of a mental thing.

I experienced this as well in the days following the launch, after playing for an hour or longer at a time. I almost started a thread about it but figured idiots would discount it (like they have in this thread). I think once our eyes are used to the 3DS's 3D effect it'll probably stop happening completely.

You shouldn't speak for everyone- I have a lazy eye, so I don't see real life in 3D.

Yep, same here. The stereoscopic 3D has been working the muscles in my eye and it really isn't that lazy anymore. And it's really cool to see life in 3D. :)

Can't speak on his behalf, but I actually can. The sweet spot for me is different...I have to be a couple inches closer to the screen than others.

Yeah it's been lessening for me too. Though I have been playing some of my older DS games lately, since I'm getting close to completing the 3DS ones I bought, and I don't want to complete them just yet! Haha

...I feel soooooo much better now after reading these posts. I'm a graphic designer and i was starting to get a little worried about my vision as I was working. I thought it might have been lack of sleep or something worse.
