Would you want voice acting in Zelda games? I know I wouldn't.

Dear Lord yes. This is 2009, and voice acting is basically required if you are going to make a game as epic as Zelda. Just as long as Link doesn't talk I'd love to have it.Head_of_games
I'd have to agree. I wouldn't really mind voice acting in Zelda, just as long as Link doesn't talk. That's what makes him cool.

Every once and a while I like to bring this up.
The only problem with that is if they do get someone to actually do the voice acting then some fans might think they sound like a bunch of idiots, I would like to have voice acting don't get me wrong but seriously what would you want Link's voice or Zelda's voice or even Ganondorfs voice to be like? to actually find people that have a decent enough voice to act all the characters out at a good quality isn't that easy. So basically yeh I would like to someday hear what they sound like but then again the chances are they wouldn't be as good as I expect so no I would prefer it unspoilt.stike22Well Link wouldn't speak, Zelda would sound like herself from the WW add, and Ganondorf would just be the guy who did his evil laugh in TP.

Hell no. Nintendo's never really done voice acting before, I can guarantee it would suck.TikicobraJust because they haven't doesn't mean they can't.

Well, Nintendo did give one Mario game voice actors while keeping Mario silent, so they could do that. But if it has the same quality as in Sunsine, well...

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption disagrees with all of you.
Good voice acting, and Samus did not speak. And not once did it feel out of place that she did not speak.
Yes, I hope there is voice acting in the next Zelda. The writing as always been sharp, but in this day in age with a game the magnitutude of a Zelda title, it needs voice acting.
As long as Link does not speak.
metroid prime 3? anyone? everyone can talk except samus they did a good job with that imo....voice acting would be awsome just dont make it sound well stupidA Japanese developer that's never done voice acting before? Doesn't exactly sound like a recipe for success. And I'm not really saying they can't do it, I'm saying they won't try.
Tikicobra
Yes i would say it does need voice acting i would say do it like Dragon Quest Jurney of the cursed king everyone speaks but the hero main charecter. that would be great :DToothpick91
as long as they dont give everyone accents like in DQ8
what are you kidding me? the general guy made me want to shut the game off when i first heard him speak. cliche` American commando dude FTLMetroid Prime 3: Corruption disagrees with all of you.

Everyone but Link.
Sort of like Metroid Prime 3
Although, I have to say... I would dearly miss the random grunts and yells that characters give before their text starts scrolling...
I guess it's a hard call...it could work but it might kill some of the nostalgia. Why fix something that isn't broken? No, I don't consider a lack of voice acting "broken" simply because that doesn't make or break a game for me. Bad controls = broken. No voice acting... I wouldn't even notice that it wasn't there.
If they put it in, I'll still play the game. If they don't... I'll still play the game, so it's really pointless. However, if they make Link talk beyond his grunts and screams, I will cry.
Absolutely not. That is part of what make the game so cool, and the music speaks for itself. And talking would take away from the great music
Dear Lord no

Text is acient, they NEED voice acting in Zelda, but they also need to keep Link mute.
Just like it was in Metroid Corruption, awsomeness.
it can work, if u have played oblivion every individual talks except ur character even though the dialogue wasnt that great it really was immersive. i think nintendo can do it

I could jump on the "Everyone but Link" bandwagon with no regrets. Nintendo is a big enough company for them to get some decent VAs if need be. But I won't flip out if its text only, 99% of the time I turn on subtitles anyway. Even in StrongBad and Sam & Max, where it can ruin the comedic timing. I just always need the text there.
Personally, I'd rather see it more like how Persona 4 handles it. Not every bit of dialogue is voiced, but the important cutscenes are. That and I loved P4's voice cast.
I think Zelda games should have voice-acting, and Link should talk as well. We have heard his battle-yells for a while now so we can already imagine what he sounds like, so it would work out fine. Just don't pick somebody too high-profile to do his voice is all. The only Zelda character I am concerned about finding a good voice-actor for is Ganon - they would need to make sure the voice isn't too soft or too fake, so it would almost have to have a kind of rugged or classy tone to it.
But yeah, all Nintendo games should have voice acting now.

Okay, but haven't you ever heard of learning from mistakes? It isn't the 80's now, and we already have a pretty good idea how Link sounds from the noises he makes, so I see no reason we couldn't find a suitable voice-actor for Link.[QUOTE="Head_of_games"][QUOTE="stike22"]The only problem with that is if they do get someone to actually do the voice acting then some fans might think they sound like a bunch of idiots, I would like to have voice acting don't get me wrong but seriously what would you want Link's voice or Zelda's voice or even Ganondorfs voice to be like? to actually find people that have a decent enough voice to act all the characters out at a good quality isn't that easy. Yeh we have all heard their noises but their actual voices might be terrible. Well we did hear Zeldas voice and I thought it was pretty good. As for Ganon, it really wouldn't be very tough as it just needs to be the standard deep voice many villians have.
In Final Fantasy X, dialogue wasn't used for every single NPC in the game - you could talk to minor characters and there would still be some text conversations. They could do something similar to this in a Zelda game, and still retain the thing you are talking about. (Ex: You could talk to some Goron miner in the Goron Mountain and he would make the 'goron-noise' when he talks to you about how tough his job is.)Everyone but Link.

I think the only major Nintendo character who should stay silent is Kirby, for the simple fact that he is mute and would be weird with a voice. It would be kind of funny if he had a really deep, masculine voice though, lol.
There's no excuse; the next Zelda should have voice acting, period.Considering Nintendo is basically the most profitable game company,I'm sure they have the money to hire some talented voice acting.
Nah, I prefer mute LoZ. I like to enjoy the music, and im afraid that voice acting might take away from the enviorment.
NO! please no!

YES! Please yes!
I don't want to be reading text in a 2009/2010 title, Voice action has been in games since the N64.
If it doesn't, it will be stuck in the past.
Actually, as much as I prefer a silent Link.... MAYBE its time for him to start speaking.
As long as the voice acting is done right and Link isnt talking around the clock then it'll work out.
Hell, I have a feeling the next Wii Zelda will surprisingly introduce the first talking Link.
Kirby has a voice, he says"Poyo" all the time.I think the only major Nintendo character who should stay silent is Kirby, for the simple fact that he is mute and would be weird with a voice. It would be kind of funny if he had a really deep, masculine voice though, lol.
