I doubt the Wiimote speaker can output enough treble for people that will be screaming into the mic. It would just sound like noise.presto7640
Did you even read the post?? Why would you scream into the mic? Say what your suppose to, loud enough, and clear enough.. Is that really so hard?
this has come up time and time again, nintendo won't ever allow voice chat or gamertags because they want to protect the children from naughty words and bad language, cause nintendo doesn't give a **** about core gamers, just children, all their games are for babies. take the person above me, she is exactly the type of person they are selling to, children who like childish cartoons like pokemon and kiddie anime.-theCHUD-
Last time I checked the Nintendo DS had online voice chat... THE NINTENDO DS! If you think their home console wont eventually get it, your being quite illogical..
The Wii has parental controls, I think Nintendo should just find a way to take advantage of it and release a headset without any worries. Erebyssial
Well the parental controls only work to an extent. Once software is running, I don't think itz capable of much outside restricting software by rating, and restricting certain channels, and features of the Wii menu.
Why don't they just only allow voice chat on friend servers? That way the only way you'll only be swearing with people who are your friends or who won't mind it.bobbetybob
Who said that they wouldn't be? Some still prefer to be able to communicate in some way shape or form while playing aganst strangers, with it being safe at the same time. The first post explains how that could work.

sarcasm man? "inb4" has been used for a very long time >_>
I've been using the internet for 12 years, I've only been seeing that used for the past few weeks. I wasn't being sarcastic. I don't get why it's funny.

on the OT forums, theres this joke that goes around that says "in before the lock." meaning, users KNOW that the thread will be locked, but they decide to put in a quick post to get there post count up. it is usually accompanied with a gif of a Star Trek characters rolling under a closing iron door (a lock, whatever you wanna call it). thats basically it. you post something real quick and you feel sneaky for doing it before the thread gets locked.

Thanks for clearing that up, it makes sense now. :)

Just a headset. Thats all I need no BS. If Nintendo just gives us a good nice looking wireless headset that would be the best.Cyber-
if it ever does happen... i would just want a wireless headset... no questions asked
kids' safety is overrated... if they're stupid enough to give away their identity... they probably deserve to get kidnapped...
did i just write that... whoops... i mean... kids' safety should be top priority! :-?

or to avoid that kids safety arguement, why not just please everyone and have a parental lock system so the responsibility is where it should be THE PARENTS.

Settle down, no need to be so defensive. I've yet to play a multiplayer game where people speak calmly and clearly when the game gets exciting.

Its a bad idea anyway. Not to be too blunt but games use that speaker for other things. I doubt it could do it let alone the with in game sound effects coming out of it.
A headset is all they need i dont know why we have to jump through hoops just to talk.

I agree, I know that it's not like Nintendo to do things like this. But I think that they should do if for the hard core gamers which aren't getting equal attention. You should be able to make so if you turn on parental controls, it can be turned off.

When I posted "inb4voicechatwillneverhappen" I was simply implying that somebody is going to eventually post that "Voice chat wil never happen." So I posted this before someone else was going to.
Like I stated earlier, the parental controls were designed a certain way, to restrict access to certain games and channels.
People have hacked the Wii-mote, and constant sound can come out of it, not just short sound effects like some think. The only reason I suggested this method is what I've read. Voice to text has been talked about, and kid safety while voice chatting has been discussed, specifically stating "we want parents to be able to listen in". How else would that work. Surely not through a normal headset. Either output is from the tv, wii-mote speaker, or something custom from nintendo. Anywayz itz not like the quality of the Wii-remote speaker would be any worse than that of a walkie talky.

Much eaiser would make it so you can set where you want the chat to output. Which lets you hear it from your speakers on your tv or surround sound.

On topic, Nintendo should already have a headset by now. They've dropped the ball and are watching it roll into the distance when it comes to online.

ooh, Thanks, I didn't know this either.
Like others said before me, I don't see Nintendo adding voice chat anytime soon. I don't see anything too major wrong with not having voicechat--I myself think it could be a nice feature, but don't a lot of gamers who do have voicechat on their other systems usually complain about annoying, cursing 12-year olds (I don't think all 12 yr olds are like this though ^^' )? I do understand Nintendo's reasons for not including it, and find them to be legitimate.
PS: There's nothing wrong with cute things! I don't think it makes one less mature. Plus, I do think Nintendo does care about its core gamers, considering how well games like Super Smash Bros, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid, etc have turned out. They work really hard on their stuff.
this has come up time and time again, nintendo won't ever allow voice chat or gamertags because they want to protect the children from naughty words and bad language, cause nintendo doesn't give a **** about core gamers, just children, most of their games are for all ages, hell probably all of them are.they ported a prince of persia game to the wii from gamecube and took out all the blood. they are censoring themselves for the sake of children, the wii is a child friendly console and thats why it does so well. take the person above me, she is exactly the type of person they are selling to, children who like childish cartoons like pokemon and kiddie anime.-theCHUD-
Ubisoft took out the blood in the Wii version, not Nintendo. Get your facts straight -- btw, the console is doing so well because its positioning itself as such -- its being unique&different, it costs less than compeition, but its priced as such that it doesnt look like its inferior or of cheap quality.
stupid impressionable lil kid: **** you mother ******* piece of ****
stupid right-wing housewife who's never worked a day in her life. Timmy what did you just say!?!?!?!??!?!?!
stupid kid: chill out hoe, i'm on voice chat handling some business on brawl
stupid housewife: well that does it, i'm calling nintendo and we're gonna get to the bottom of this.
stupid house wife calls nintendo and says: you're system is making my child out to be a thug. we don't even associate ourselves with the filth that is the "working class"
*1 week later*
nintendo: we're sorry to inform nintendo users but due to high volume of complaints there will no longer be usage of the voice chat feature, thank you
