Wait for the 3DS or should I just buy a DS already?

What's up guys?

There's a ton of games on DS that I haven't gotten a chance to play. I love handheld gaming...there's something about sitting on my couch with a great RPG on my handheld and playing it for hours. It requires less effort than a console experience, making it more accessible.

I haven't bought a DS yet because, well, I don't really know. TBH I always was put off by the look, and never really explored the sortware. But there are loads of good games, particularly the dragon quest series on DS and a few other RPG's that my PSP can't compete with.

So I decided I was gonna buy a 3ds, so I could play newer titles as well as the old DS games I wanted to play. But now I'm sort of wondering if I should just buy a DS Lite off craigslist and see if I can score some deals on games. What do you guys think? The 3ds is a lot of money and maybe I should wait until the PSP2 comes out (potentially in late 2011) and decide which handheld i'd like to support then.

So DS now, or wait for 3ds? Also, what's a good price on a used DS? Which model should I get? There's so many types. Thanks everyone!

Well... i dont know if you can still play old DS games os the 3DS but if I were you, I would go ahead and get the 3DS instead. 3D gaming > 2D gaming.

Depends on the price point of the DS, I suppose. I'd imagine a price drop is coming pretty soon. Just remember its a really good GBA, as well. Something that surely wont be in the 3DS.

I'm not really a gamer, i just do games on spare time, but i don't enjoy it massively like a lot of people might. But if you can't wait, I would go ahead and buy a DS. As others have said, there are a lot of games to go through that you might enjoy. But first, you should do research on the games that are out/coming out to see if you will enjoy them.

I say wait for the 3DS. It will still play DS games so you can play some of the games you really wanted to.

Get a ds and some ds games. 3ds will beable to play ds games. So you will have a giant library of games by the time 3ds is released

get a DS off craigslist for cheap, I can find them for like $50 in good condition here in south Texas.

Than if you want a 3DS it won't hurt as much investment wise

I agree. DS Lite now, 3DS later. You might even decide to hold off on the 3DS until it's cheaper anyway, thus saving you lots of money. Yep, there's hundreds of good to great games on the DS, a really wise choice for a gaming system.
