Hey, should I go now for a DS Lite / DSi. Or should I wait and save till the "DS2"?

I would probably just wait (save money in the end of the day).

Depends how badly you want a DS now! There is no word as to when a "DS2" will come out and since Nintendo have only just released the DSi XL then I predict at least a year and probably more before the "DS2"

As to which to get - if you want camera, voice recorder and the ability to "mess about" with the pictures aand sound bites plus you want access to the DSi Ware along with slightly bigger screens and reduced battery life go for the DSi (the XL has even bigger screens - not sure about the battery ). If however you want to be able to play GBA games on it then you need a lite!

I'd buy a cheap one now.
DS has enough games to keep you entertained until a possible new release.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that XL has a better battery life than the DSi.

As for the the question, I think you should just go for it. You're always going to have some new form of technology come out. Let's say you waited for the DS2. And once you finally got it, I'm sure in a matter of months Nintendo will announce some new version of the DS2. It's just how things are. Go for a DS now, and if a DS2 is announced and released this year, then I'm sure you can get some trade-in deal at gamestop. That's just my opinion of course.

If you have a DS I'd wait for the second one. If you don't have a DS and have only a short amount of cash, I'd go with the lite. Vice-Versa for the DSi (which made me feel ripped-off with my DS Phat.).

The DS has a great library that will probably occupy you for two years easily. The DS 2 probably won't be very cheap or have a alot of good games until it has been out at least a year. Also, Nintendo usually comes out with different versions of their handheld consoles which improve the original design. The DS Lite is better than the original DS, and the GBA SP is better than the regular GBA. So, I would say the DS Lite would be the most cost effective choice considering the DS2 won't be worth buying for another couple years. Of course, this is based on my own gaming and purchasing habits.

There are many great games on the DS to play even if the DS2 were to come out in the next two years. If you set aside a dollar a day to save up for the next DS, then I'm sure you can afford it and any of the good games that may be released with it while you play a mountain of good games on the original. There is just too many games to pass up even if the DS2 can play past titles; I think most people would be less inclined to play a dusty old DS title at that point. Go get one!

I just got a DSi myself. If in the future I might upgrade.
