Ah Amazon.com, you never cease to amaze me. All it takes is one retailer to give you a little money, and you will let them get away with highway robbery.

Case and point, last year's phenominal failure Zack & Wiki Quest for Barbaros' Treasure. Many people expected good things from this title, and very few walked away dissappointed. That wasn't why it failed, the reason was because more people waited to buy the game at $40 than $20. Mostly from those that pre-ordered and purchased Mario Kart Wii for the full price tag and found the game at a price point they could now "afford" (including my sorry butt for buying it alongside Persona 3 FES). As others have stated in the past, now is the time to own a copy of this game, because if you don't purchase it soon, the price will be higher than you ever expected.

That time is now. A sealed copy is worth $75. All new copies are worth higher than anything you can find in stores. Stop laughing, because most copies left in stores are not sealed, and the other retailers are charging at least $5 more to sell the sealed game over a new copy.

The gauntlet has been thrown, the Wii has something the other consoles could never get away with. Failed games are now worth big money.

(there is irony in the P3 FES thing, free internet cookie if you figure it out)

Wow, that is just... wow. I was considering getting it but no game is worth $80. I mean, there are games I buy only because they're cheap and some games I suck up and pay for even though they're more expensive, but that's just absolutely ridiculous.

Its a pretty easy formula to see this coming... a great game that sells few copies will generally be in high demand down the road as a collectors item.

You can still get one sealed. It might be a Kmart Bargain bin or a Toys'RUs clearance rack, but if you are serious about keeping a sealed copy, you can find one.

I'm just warning the people that actually want to play it, not stay ahead of the inflation curve.

There are just as many decent games that do not follow this trend, Final Fantasy VII is at $70 used, and that sold over 10 million copies, while Baten Kaitos can be found for $10 everywhere, even after selling roughly the same as Z&W.

This kind of thing happens more often than it should.

For instance, check outthisebaypage for new copies of GBA Castlevania games (my favorite is the copy of C:AoS for $175).

EDIT: okay, gs keeps screwing up my links. I give up.

Did the game flop that badly? I thought it's sales were decent in the US. Not amazing, just decent.

I'm glad I got it the day it came out, anyway.

so often you can find huge differences in price between Amazon and eBay. sometimes $20, 30, or even $40 difference.

I couldn't find a copy of DDR: SuperNova on eBay for less than $60 (after exchange and S&H) and picked up one on Amazon for $30.

I bet there's money to be made simply by buying from one site, then selling it on the site with the highest average price.

A couple weeks ago zach & wiki on ebay, yes a new copy, was only like $19.95. I was really tempted, especially since I got $75 back from returning college books.

It is called "flipping" or the act of buying something to sell it again for a higher price.

A lot of people find it immoral, because it takes a good that would have been used and it pockets an expensive finder's fee on top of it.

This is why I consider Gamestop one of the least horrible places to buy video games.

Wow that much? I really don't think it should be worth that much because it is a game of $40 dollars like you said but not $75.

Do you know what the PAL Soul Nomad: The World Eaters for the PS2 is selling for on Amazon.co.uk? £999.99. Any new copies that do surface on the website cost £40-50

Sure Baten Kaitos is $10 now but you could of said the same for Eternal Darkness a couple of years ago. Also you can get Final Fantasy VII for $5 or lower if you look through rummage. Being such a high selling game makes it easier to find than most expensive games on ebay.
