I'm considering buying a wavebird for my Wii....I have a few questions.

1) Can you use the wavebird on the Wii? The ports on it appears smaller.

2) Do you get used to playing games without the Rumble feature?  Is it a must have for some games i.e. (finding secret items)?

3) Can you use the wavebird on all of the virtua console games or would I also have to buy a classic controller?

Between buying games for the Wii, VC and gamecube I'm having an amazing time with this system but for GC games I own an original controller and the cord is way too short.  Honestly I haven't played my 360 in over a week since I bought the Wii and haven't missed it a bit!

Thanks in advance for your help!

as for the first two i cant answer since i dont have a wavebird, but it should be able to play most vc games. anyones that can use a regular GC controllers should use a wavebird. or at least it should. Also, to find out if it can use a GC controller, before buying the game, checkout the description of the game. it should have pictures of all controllers taht are usuable.

1) Can you use the wavebird on the Wii? The ports on it appears smaller. Yes, thats what I'm currently using right now. Only for virtual games though.

2) Do you get used to playing games without the Rumble feature?  Is it a must have for some games i.e. (finding secret items)? After a while (from playing games from PS2 w/ rumble features), I have taken a liking to not having the rumble feature. It depends on you.

3) Can you use the wavebird on all of the virtua console games or would I also have to buy a classic controller? You can use the wavebird for all the virtual games. I suggest buying the wavebird over the classic controller - it also would allow you to play gamecube games so it's the best of both worlds. And as of the moment the classic controller won't do you much use as there haven't been any Wii games that I know of yet that need it.

The gamecube controller works for SOME virtual console games.  Not technically.  They are all compatible, but playing Street Fighter II with a Gamecube controller is a pain in the arse.  Wavebirds are very nice.  I can barely use mine because it got too many hours in RE4 and Zelda Wind Waker.  The joystick is like the ones you see at video game stores where the ridges are worn down and the joystick is incredibly wiggly.  :P

I have an extension cable as well as an after maket wireless controller that has rumble. So you don't have to live without.

1. yes The Wavebird receiver fits perfectly fine. 2. I used the Wavebird on the Gamecube. I liked being wireless a lot more than having rumble. Nice thing about the next gen controllers like the Wiimote is that it is wireless and has rumble. Then again, the sixaxis doesn't have rumble. 3. Supposedly there are a few games that will need the classic controller. None of them have come out. I think they are TurboGrafix 16 games or something.

I hadn't considered this but are there any good third party wireless controllers with rumble?  I know the word good and third party sounds somewhat like an oxymoron, however, I read somewhere that Pelican made a descent one.

But, its not as good as wireless because I hate triping over wires and killing the console... Poor gamecube...

it is basically a gamecube controller, so it;s the same effect only without rumble, now usually, in games where rumble is essential what they would do it they would put an ! over the characters head and its done, definitely not as effective, but it works, i own one, but lately i went back to the basic controller with rumble

Wavebird issues??

There I was playing Super Smash Bros.Melee(gamecube) on my Wii using my brand new Wavebird controller when suddenly after 45 minutes of playing,  the wavebird lost signal to its receiver. So, I went thru the usual troubleshooting routine, verified the channel on the controller and receiver were the same>yes. Next checked the batteries, those are fine. o.k. pulled out the reciever turned off the controller, took out the batteries put it all back together..still nothing. tried every single channel on the reveiver/controller, still nothing. finally turned off the wii and unplugged everything waited 10 minutes, plugged it all back in, turned it on, tried a few different gamecube games, still no response from the wavebird. The controller was not more than a week old,I used it flawlessly on both VC games and cube games, never dropped it or anything, it just suddenly stopped working. anyone else have a problem with their wavebird on the wii? any other suggestions? unfortunately i dont own a standard wired controller to verify if there is some problem with the controller sockets or something, thatll be the next step....why cant we just use the classic controller on our cube games?? sigh...

My wavebird advice is...stick to a regular controller. A controller + extension is cheaper and it feels more natural imo.

If I ever get a GCN controller, there is no way I'm getting a regular wired one. I haven't had the problem with previous consoles, but my Wii is fairly high up and set up vertically, and there is no way I want that thing falling.

By the way, the GCN controller doesn't work with all VC games, as far as I know. Even if it does, playing some with it will make you want to die. The forbidden>
