Not just A Metroid. A 2-D sidescroller Metroid.Zombie_Eric
thats what i meant. :P
but yeah... i just started playing super metroid and after that im going to play zero mission and fusion and then....
we need a metroid ds!!!
Metroid Hunters, whats wrong with that game its hella fun! It even has wi-fi.
WHO would want to take a step back, and play a 2-D game

I don't think 2-D would be taking a step back. We need a new one because the story mode on MPH was horrible.

A 2D metriod has a completely different gameplay then hunters, so I wouldnt consider it a step back, just a step in a differnt direction.
It has to be another 2D one. I'd actually prefer pixel art, but 3D stuff in a 2D layouts cool too.
As much as I loved Prime 1-3, metroid does and always will belong in 2D.
Because those were the only good Metroid games. I hated all the Metroid Prime games I have played.Metroid Hunters, whats wrong with that game its hella fun! It even has wi-fi.

That would be awesome. I love all the 2d Metroid games and the prime saga (don't like MPH that much).
Hunters wasn't terrible by any means but it left something to be desired. I think without a doubt there will be another 2-D Metroid game and I'll be first in line.

Aww man, I go back and play Zero Mission and Fusion all the time. I loved those games! For whatever reason I still haven't pulled the trigger on playing Super Metroid and I don't know why.... I haven't heard anyone ever say anything but great things about that game... Maybe one day...
Hunters, by no means a bad game, felt like it betrayed everything Metroid stood for. A multiplayer oriented experience, a single player which was excessively disappointing for a Metroid game, awful, AWFUL boss fights, boring level designs, and...no metroids?!. Sure, it was pretty and controlled well, but it wasn't a Metroid game.
A new 2D game developed by Nintendo's EAD would be amazing.
I think what nintendo needs to do
is put some quality time into a metroid game that will take us all forever
with the feeling of those old side-scrollers that made the franchise what it is today
As for the graphics, they should do it like New Super Mario Brothers, or the Spiderman DS games, or (god forbid) Kirby and the Crystal Shards.
That way they could have detailed sprites
On good looking polygonal backgrounds
But still maintain that pure metroid-ness found in Super Metroid and the like
you could even have the screen rotate around corners and stuff
to create the feeling of being in a real 3-D world
But still maintain the linear exploration of old metroid games
Just picture running around blasting open doors and enemies with your tiny 3-D samus sprite...

...and one that takes 50 hours to complete :D
Exactly, not like Fusion which took 5 hours to beat, but it was a blast.

With the size of the DS screens and the number of polygons it can handle a 2D metroid would be way better than the 3D metroid that already exists.
It would be really good to have one.
hey, hey... if they ever come out with Metroid Dread.... they should add something onto it...
maybe call it "Metroid: Dread System"
or maybe "Metroid: Dread Shock"
or possibly even "Metroid: Dread Section"
they could probobly come up with a better DS subtitle...
I like the DS subtitles...
I don't like it how sequals stop using the DS subtitle...
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin?
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin?
you know what? they just RUINed thier subtitles...
they could have called it Castlevania: Drawings of Sinfulness
and.... Advance Wars: Days of Sorrow
...really...
