I hope you all join me in saying, "holy eff Nintendo, where the hell have you been the last three years?"

Before the conference I was telling a friend that if I didn't get three solid reasons why I bought a Wii, I was going to sell it, new Zelda game be damned. Boy was I surprised.

What was your favorite game shown today?

My bias and childhood love of the game forces me to say Zelda... just because its Zelda.

Zelda looks great, but Donkey Kong is where my loyalties lie. I was sort of hoping for a game in the vein of Donkey Kong 64, but I'm still perfectly happy with the 2.5D look.

I agree. I was hoping for a 3d platformer. I just think that they have more to offer in overall playability, but as long as it's two player I'm buying it.

Nintendo is back on top now woo hoo!!! But like I said with all their core games coming out this year like I said this is the year of Nintendo, the year they get back on top. 3DS looks great I will get it. Zelda was amazing, metroid to. Donkey Kong and Kurby surprised me lol and not in a bad way however Kurby with yarn ehhhhh not to excited lol.I wonder why there was no mention of Pokemon Black or White (which come out Q1 of 2011).... Funny thing is though it seemed like Nintendo was like oh and by the way we have this new thing called a 3DS which is a 3D gameing system without glasses. While we are all picking up our jaws from the floor he looks at us and says No biggie really lol. Like seriously Nintendo FTW!

I sold my Wii (first gen I don't own a nintendo console and do own another) a couple of years ago, but hot damn if Nintendo keeps this up I am going to buy a Wii no doubt. I hate Wii party and all that garbage, but if these games are as good as they look and Ninty supports the gamer with this kind of stuff well I for one will back them.

Oh and My favorite is Zelda although it did not necessarily blow me away, I know it will as it is one of the best series ever. Donkey Kong is close behind though :).

well IMO this gen ninty hasnt dissapointed, it reminds me of good ol n64 days, which is a good thing, in fact the n64 era was the one that defined me as a gamer, so far this gen we have got

  • Mario Kart
  • Smash Bros
  • Paper Mario
  • Metroid trilogy
  • Galaxy 1
  • Galaxy 2
  • New super mario bros
  • Exite series
  • Punch out!
  • Mario Party
  • Zelda
  • Wario ware
  • Wii series
  • Warioland

plus the incoming slew of titles like:

  • other m
  • zelda skyward sword
  • dk country
  • kirby epic yarn

And many i cant remember plus many 3rd party jewels!

Nintendo never left, IMO this gen just became a slew of racers and shooters for the other consoles. Kudos tough on resurrecting old franchises (wasnt that interested on the 3ds until i heard of starfox, kid icarus, even an mgs and resident evil)

The new Zelda game looks amazing, but Donkey Kong Country Returns...? Holy $^@&*^#!!! I didn't see that coming. The level of nostalgia I feel right now is mind blowing.

Hah i know! And then they go and blow my mind with not only the hardware of the 3DS, but the software! I am in awe and need both RIGHT NOW! Seriously Nintendo is stepping up their game and it is working for me.

Lol, well don't get me wrong, I'm a 27 year old gamer who typically prefers the more adult-oriented type of games, but I gotta say that this game for some reason seems very intriguing and itneresting. Perhaps it's because I was a huge fan of the 16-bit Mickey Mouse games as a kid, and this gameis probably just offering a bit of a nostalgia trip for me :D

About that Paper Mario game, it's not bad but it's nothing like Paper Mario 64 and the Thousand Year Door. I want a real Paper Mario...

oh you are talking about super paper mario on the Wii? Cause the 3DS one looks like it goes back to the old RPG style and is one of the games that i am SUPER excited for out of any console lol.

Agreed. I didn't like that all the worlds were essentially levels rather than places with people that you could interact with. As a whole, it felt watered down compared to the first two Paper Mario games.

Nintendo is definitely destroying everything Microsoft and Sony are offering through E3, and I'm actually surprised at just how far ahead they are. The "Kinect" didn't impress me at all, and Sony's "Move" is little more than a glorified version of the Wii's remote, which has been available to us for how many years now? Nintendo has the more impressive line-up of "all star" games and characters, too. Zelda, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Metroid, Goldeneye, and even Mickey Mouse in an incredibly intriguing-looking game. And that's not even bringing the Nintendo 3DS into consideration, which will no doubt destroy the rest of the competition in the handheld gaming market.

At this time, I think it's hard to dispute that Nintendo just dropped a bomb on everybody else. Microsoft and Sony still have great systems with great lineups of games, but they just don't compare right now to what Nintendo has.
