as a new Wii owner i would suggest the following accessories:- Extra Wii mote
- Extra Nunchuk
- SD Card, only if you want to back up files, put pictures on it for the photo channel, music, etc.
- Wii Jackets are good because they keep the wiimotes from getting damaged by players who seem to pull of the full actions, plus they add some good grip support

As for the Zapper, its a question of opinion. Some hate it, some love it. It doesnt add anything really to the games you play, it just makes it feel more like your playing an arcade shooter. If you want that experience, its a great buy. Thats why i bought it, and i use it with Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (Great game btw).

I would just say get the extra Wiimote and nunchuk and zapper if your gonna be playing shooting games. Might want 2 zappers if your gonna play with someone else.
is the SD card needed a standard SD card? I've seen white nintendo ones.kingrich06

You can get the rubber Wii Remote jackets free from Nintendo. And be sure to get a $30 Nyko charge station, it will save you big bucks on batteries. If you have an HDTV, get a $6 Wii component cable from Monoprice. Welcome to the club!
When i bought mine i was told I'd need a memory card, which so far hasn't been used due to the Wii's own memory i was told it didn't have. so dont worry about memory for a while.
Id say get a second controller and num chuck right away as getting friends to playo n the wii with you is a huge thrill, also get a powerstation charging stand, they're very good.
i would also suggest a spare wireless sensor bar, you never know why you might need it.
I'll just say that I have a Nyko charge station and the wiimotes don't fit with the jackets on. Also, if you are going to get a second wiimote, get Wii Play. It is only $50 and comes with a wiimote, so it is like a 10$ game.

Yeah buying Wii Play is the best thing to do if you're looking for an exta Wiimote and I do recommend you get an extra one if you have friends that you'd like to play with.

its also a fairly fun game you can get going on quickly with a friend, so the game and controller combo is a good plan
