The topic title is misleading...

Isn't Lock's Quest an RPG? If so, I believe it was made in America. (I think by the same people who made drawn to life)

Topic is definitely misleading. If you wanted a good RPG, abondon your search for the Western counter-part and believe in the Japanese. Their losing in the console wars against non-J developers, but in RPG's they can't be touched. Period.

Even if the characters always look sorta the same from game to game, hehe.

No, WRPG's can be just as good as JRPG's, it just depends on your preferance.

I can't think of any pure WRPG for the DS but you may enjoy games like Castlevania, Rune Factory, and possibly the upcoming Suikoden game.

Wait-- I thought they were all created in Japan?

I thought the question was, what are some American made games. (Or Westren if you want to get technical)

Well they are Japanese made, but I think the DS does not have any WRPG's. The games i mentioned are Japanese but they do have some elements from Western Games such as a sense of open endedness.

True. I can't think of any, either. At least none that has done very well to warrant attention. Unless you would count Puzzle Quest: which in a way is an RPG. Nowhere traditional though.

Besides Sonic RPG, there's Black Sigil: Blade of the Exile which was originally an GBA game. Again, Japanese command the RPG department (despite the critiscm). Period.

Final Fantasy and Pokemon are Japanese bred.. tangat!

Sonic Chronicles (GET IT)

TWEWY (GET IT)

Etrian Odyssey (good)

Dragon Quest 4 (GET IT)

Final Fantasy 4 (GET IT)

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2 (GET IT)

...Yeah, the DS doesn't have much in the ways of Western RPGs. >>
