I haven't played Fire emblem 10 yet, also known as Radiant Dawn, since I haven't beaten FE9. But I'm far in FE9 and I've beaten FE7 and FE8 a ton of times. I really enjoy the series because it forces you to think in numerous ways. There's always numerous ways to beat each chapter. The game has punishing diffuculty, even on easy, and the RPG aspects are very interesting. Plus the the story and the characters are fun to watch.
Sorry if this is kind of a plug, but I wrote and big article on the Fire Emblem games a while back that you can read if you want more information. It's located here.

Great post. I love the difficutly and accesability of the first two. Once they die they die. I always have to restart a chapter when this happens because once you finish you get a said message about their death.

Thanks. I enjoy that aspect for the most part. I hate when you're one turn away from finishing the chapter when someone you really like dies. Then you have to restart, and it sucks.

yeah but then i end up finishind it faster and with a new strategy. I hate having that lost though.FF8 was the easiest one because of power leveling so it felt less like a strategy game.Which are your favorite charcters for the Gba ones? I like ross and hector.

See thats what I dont like about the game, at first I thought it was a nice feature(I thought how realistic) but as I progress the feature started becoming annoying...I mean I would get so far and then BAM...now I have to start all over -_-

But the fun of it is the meta-game. Formulating a strategy before you start a chapter becomes really addictive.
I havent played RD yet but I love Fire Emblem. it makes you think a lot more than other RPGs like pokemon and final fantasy. its all about strategy
hum i never ever played a fire emblem game untill radiant dawn actually i never even heard of it till raidant dawn lol and i think its awsome i like the punishing difficulty because it just requires you to have a better strategy and i also like it how when a character dies there gone forever so then you just go to play even smarter.
so bascally i love the game lol
Fire Emblem 7, or otherwise the first one to be released in North America is one of my favourite games it had a reat storyline, unique gameplay, and was nice and challenging.
The Sacred Stones however, somewhat dissapointed me, as it didn't live up to my expectations. One of the biggest problems I found was that there was minimal charicter development when compared to the first one. In the first game, every charicter was somewhat involved in the overall plot, and has a chance (other than support conversations) to develop their own personalities, where the sacred stone people were just introduced and forgotten, and never seen or mentioned again. But the gameplay was still excellent, and the new classes were pretty neat.
Path of Radience was great, but seemed a little dated in the graphics department, mainly because it was origionally to be developed for the N64, but was quickly shifted over to gamecube, but it was still a fun game.
I myself, just really want to see Sealed Sword released here, teasing us by putting Roy in melee was just mean....
Marth will make it here though, because the first one is being remade for DS, which is very good news..
I thought Fire Emblem (GBA) was better than Fire Emblem Sacred Stones because it was bigger - although having a tactitian was unnecessary.
From the reviews of Fire Emblem GC it looks like the fight sequences were not as snappy as the GBA fight sequences, which leads me to believe they made the sprites too big which could have slowed the allowable frame rate.
From the reviews of Fire Emblem Wii it looks like they did a piss poor effort on the game but put loads of effort into the fmv cutscenes. Also, why not allow the Wiimote to be used in it's point and click function? Would have been quite goodfor the majority of funtions in the game (battle screen, world map screen) although I would have combined this with the option to use the d-pad for complex menu navigation.
