i honestly dont get it, ive never played the game 00173
*stops reading*
BTW, just so you know it's sort of a mix between a platformer and an RPG (the last two were basically full-on RPGs though), so maybe you're just not the RPG type.

Paper Mario TTYD was the only rpg that I liked. just saying.

is it still like the old mario were ur jumping on magic mushrooms and sliding down pipes.... or is it different because it looks that way in the screens00173
In some levels, this is what you have to do. But the mushrooms are for the HP not a power up. What I like about this game is the starman power upand Paper Mario becomes giant 8-bit Mariofrom Super Mario Bros.
Obviously a lot of love was put into the story as it is very good for a game and even the most mundane characters have witty and interesting things to say. The graphics, while definately not next gen, are very bright and creative and proves that addage that you don't need crazy technology to make a visually stimulating experience. Sound's not bad, and the gameplay is generally pretty good, though not as good Super Mario RPG or any of the nes/snes platformers. The RPG element is worthless, andIMHO the pixls and character switches take precedent overa desire to create a really solid classic platformer (which is by far themostdisappointing aspect). You can play it in short bursts, butit definately gets you into that "one more save point" mentality. OverallI think its a worthwhile experience withits biggest fault being a lack of quality control and about 2-3 hours too long.
I took a chance and picked up Super Paper Mario for WII - this is the first SPM that I have ever actually tried.
I must say - I really like this game. It manages to mix the old-school platforming mario from SMB1-3, RPG and NEVER got boaring. The graphics aren't really 'next gen'...but they aren't meant to be. Remember - this is super PAPER mario -- the graphics are supposed to be 2D- the flip to 3D thing was added to spice things up and improve the puzzles in the game.
The Pixls really add to the game - you can do tons of cool stuff, given the right Pixl. It took me almost 25 solid hours to finish this game, and I enjoyed every minute of it. The characters are interesting, funny and there are a lot of "IN" jokes for those who have played Nintendo games since the beginning (yes...even the Colecovision Donkey Kong where you get to wield that big, yellow hammer).
I really, really enjoyed this game. If you have the chance, I strongly recommend you give it a shot. In Canada, many FutureShop/Best Buy locaitons have this game running at Wii demo stations. FUN GAME!
i honestly dont get it, ive never played the game but ive watched videos and screen shots and unless your an extremely hard core mario fan idk how you can get into it. would someone pleeaassee explain this to me00173
This is ridiculous. You're asking on a forum why this game is so good but have no intention of actually playing it? Why not instead of criticising the game based on videos that you have seen you actually play the game and make a judgement? There's no reason to critique a game that you have never played by experiencing it through a completely different media and trying to see why people enjoy the game who have actually played it.
[QUOTE="00173"]i dont have a local gamespot, or gamestop, or ebgames all i have is walmart and thats like an hour away lol, i live in northan maine.aransomYou should consider renting games by mail, you get mail there don't you? lmfao, duh... just the town i live at dosent have much
Meh, that game isn't THAT great, but it all depends on what you are expecting and what you like. I loved Paper Mario and PMTTYD but I found this to be rather... not as excellent. I don't want to say its bad because it isn't. It just, not polished enough.
They could have done so much more to the RPG element to the point where it actually is noticable. Right now, you level up and randomly have either your health or your attack upgraded, no choice or customization. Also, this is just my oppinion, the dpad on the Wiimote, while is great, it can get alittle uncomfortable after playing for more than an hour since it is rather small. One last thing, they took out soo much that was great from the other Paper Marios that its hard for me to call this a Paper Mario game. No badges, no true partners, the only useful items are the health items, no real strategy for killing the enemys (other than avoid attacks and jump on them, and the bomb eating things)puzzlesare too easy (usually all you have to do is go 3d andBAM! the anser is obvious.)
I only got to Chapter3, however my friend plays it alot and he is on Chapter 7 and I've watchedhim get there. I actually like watching this game more than playing sometimes. That is my true, honest oppinion. The game isn't bad, but they could have done so much better.

If you want to "get it" you have to play it. It's the very definition of ignorance to admit you have never played a game and wonder what is so good about it.
