i have a GBA and i'm looking to enter the Pokemon series.

if it was great then il buy a DS but for now i was thinking where should i enter the series.

what should i do first ?

example :

you should watch the anime first to understand the game and then play diamond because it's the best out of them etc.

i hope you understand my point

Stay away from the anime. It's pointless, and you won't benefit from watching it. Your better off playing the game instead to get better at it.

It really doesn't matter which one you start with. I would advise starting with Diamond/Pearl/Platinum simply because that's the new standard, but you only have a GBA. So play which ever you can find on it.

There are 4 i believe for the gba? VERY expensive. Your beter off spending the money on a DS and a pokemon game in the long run.

People don't play Pokemon for the story ha ha! The gameplay is where its at.

And to be totally honest, each Pokemon game has the SAME story.

Considering you have a GBA you have a lot of options for what you'd like to buy.

There's pretty much every game that has come out except for the DS versions.

If you'd like to feel like you're starting off from the very first game but want something a bit more updated you could get FireRed or LeafGreen as they as updated GBA versions of Pokemon Red and Blue.

I started off with Pokemon Gold which was a good game, but then again, like someone stated before, each game is pretty much the same story. The only difference is what "in game" Pokemon you can catch.

I would at least suggest you get an advanced version, not something that was for Gameboy Color or earlier.

FireRed

LeafGreen

Ruby

Sapphire

Emerald

I would recommend Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald because they come with a pretty nice choice of starters.

You have to start with leaf green or fire red, remakes of the very originals and pretty much the best ones.

You really do not have to watch the anime, parts of it are enjoyable though, definately watch the movies. You need to experience each region in the Pokemon games. A game from each region and both from Orre. In english they are Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Orre, Fiore, Sinnoh, and Almia. Kanto: Fire Red, Leaf Green Johto: Heart Gold, Soul Silver Hoenn: Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald Orre: Colosseum, XD Gale of Darkness Fiore: Ranger Sinnoh: Diamond, Pearl, Platinum Almia: Ranger 2 Third one in Hoenn and Sinnoh have extras and changes. The two in Orre happen at different times and as a result both are needed to fully experience the region. Colosseum first, then XD. In all other regions only one game is needed to experience the region. The game you choose in each region will determine which Pokemon you can gather in each region. For instance in Diamond you can get Dialga but not Palkia and in Pearl you can get Palkia but not Dialga. You can trade between the games in each region to get the others. I have given the regions to you in a semblance of story order though for the Johto games you will need to wait if you want/need them in english. Each region has a part in the overall story so you should go through all of them. You can send pokemon and items between Kanto, Hoenn, and Orre, from Kanto and Hoenn to Johto and Sinnoh, and from Fiore and Almia to Sinnoh. Have alot of fun no matter what you do, floral

You don't NEED to experience each region just try Emerald, Fire Red, or Leaf Green for GBA if you like it get a DS and Platinum, or if Soul Silver and Heart Gold are out in english one of those two.

As previously stated all the games have more or less the same story.

I wouldn't advise Ruby or Sapphire for GBA, Emerald is the same game with more content.

I would advise you to wait for Soul Silver and Heart Gold for a DS game. HGSS will easily be the best first experience with pokemom anyone could have. They have more content then any other game in the series.

DON'T WATCH THE ANIME! It will do nothing for you! What the anime does the game does better.

You can only imagine how bad a show has to be, to have a story worse then a game franchise with a silent hero, the same plot in every game, and turn based battles.

The movies are nothing more then a showcase for the ledgendary pokemon.

I would say Firered and Leafgreen ( both games are nearly the same) They are remakes of the first pokemon games that ever came out and they do it very well. And they have also added new things such as the new Islands pokemon and the abillity to trade pokemon with Saphire and ruby. ( you can also trade to diamond and pearl) That is defenently a game you don´t want to miss!
