The main thing I want is new world themes.

DS

New Super Mario 1435863

Wii

Mii

Although I have enjoyed the NSMB series so far, the games really look like expansion packs off of eacther more than anything else.

I think this is one area where Mario could learn from Sonic.

You know that that was just a tech demo right? :P

Anyways, I like the gameplay of the NSMB series but the presentation's been awful. I'd love if they went with a cartoony look like Wario Land: Shake it! and used music that doesn't suck. I hate the NSMB main theme so much. :|

I completely agree.

NSMB and NSMBW share the same world themes; Mushroom Kingdom, Desert, Beach/Underwater, Jungle, Ice, Mountain, Cloud, and Volcano.

It needs more variety. How about a world in space? Or a world made entirely out of giant desserts? (Without completely ripping off the Galaxy games. :P)

The music is a weird voice that says "Pa-Paaaaa" in lots of levels.

I totally agree about the presentation aspect of NSMBW. I hope that the actual, inevitable NSMB Wii U pays a bit more attention to audio and visual aesthetics.

Haha, they could certainly benefit from at least a little SMG inspiration, though.:P I'd like to see some more urban themes as well - factory, carnival, etc.

if there is multiplayer again, get rid of the stupid collision mechanics. make it work like smash where you just pass through each other.

I would like it to 1. Not feature Mii's, 2. be more like Super Mario World as far as stage design and number of stages, 3. Make the stages full of secrets, 4. a secret world, Bring Back King Koopa Bowser aka a Tough Bowser

My only expectation is killer level design.

I still want ice/lava/water/desert, but a variation of them, not the same style like they did in NSMB/NSMBW.

It seems like NSMB Mii will be made for both Wii U and 3DS and feature some kind of connectivity like Smash Bros. 4, I'm curious to see what they can do with that.

Level creation/sharing. Seriously, that game would last me an entire gen if it had little big planet style level sharing.

I would like more fun levels in the next Mario sidescroller.

Also, a level editor would be AMAZING.

Personally, I like the collision mechanics. Adds a little extra challenge to the gameplay. It might be cool though if they included an option to turn it on or off (like team attack on smash).

There is like a 99.99% chance, that the ability to play as a Mii will be strictly OPTIONAL. When it comes team collisions, there is no way, they should take that out.

Based on the last two games / Nintendo's track record killer level design is a given. That's something I expect from the next NSMB. Personally, having played Mario for years and years, I'd kind of like to see some new world themes. But even variations on the traditional worlds would be nice. I think that some Mario games outside of the NSMB series have done a much better job at capturing the charm of Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World. I mean most of the games have very similar world themes but some are a lot more appealing than others. BTW, I think that Mario Sunshine pulled off new themes (Hotel, Amusement Park, etc) fairly well. Also the Mario Kart series has been pretty creative in presenting alternate themes that still feel Mario-ish.

I would like if they made it more relaxed, spent a little more time on world design and atmosphere. But that just isn't what Mario platformers are about, so I know it won't happen.

I know this will be an unpopular view on the situation, but I don't think this is the game for a level creator. Despite the interface which would be great for it, Mario doesn't have the mechanics for a level creator. Mario Kart would be a better game for a level creator than a Mario Platformer.

I pesonally like that they, for example use the dessert over and over...i like to see how they make it better each time. I'm sick of those stupid lava worlds though.
