Do you need to be a Pokemon fan to answer? I'm not, so I'd choose Mario Bros. Looks like a great platformer.

if you played pokemon pearl or dimond then mario if not platinum new super mario bros is really short i zipped through it in about 7 hours pokemon is noce and long with alot to do when you beat it also if you like action platformers and stuff marios for you if your a rpg man like myself pokemons your game
They are not the same... Super mario Bros is just for fun. I like it. But I like Pokemon Platinum much more because u can create your own "carreer". Also, u can play competitively with your friends and other ppl. Take Pokemon Platinum. U won't regret it, believe me...
Tell us more. What DS games have you played in the past (and liked or disliked)? If you've played Pearl/Diamond then don't bother with Platinum. Get New Super Mario Bros. If you have yet to play Pearl or Diamond, then maybe Platinum is the best choice.i dont know what game to get

You don't need to master every level to complete the game, you just need to be able to get through them once. And there's no point in playing them again after you've been through once.ok i will choose mario

Of course there's a point on playing it again. There are some hidden levels to unlock as well as all the star coins to collect. Beating it at 100% is a hard task that I managed to complete and it really takes time.
I would normally go with the RPG, but New Super Mario Bros. is just so awesome. Loads of fun. So much fun you'll dream about Mario the first couple of nights you play. It's that great.
