The N64, Saturn and Playstation era had a that sort of magical feel to them. Playing on the Snes and Genesis era when the 2d games were mastered was great, but the leap to the N64 and PS1 was just.....I can't really explain it. There was just something about the way it felt to play Super Mario 64 for the 1st time, you know, along with the other AAA hits that hit the 3D thing with a bang like Starfox and Goldeneye.
Thata was by far my favorite generation of gaming, I haven't had an experiance of change when playing anything up from there. But I have some hopes for the wii though.
The 16 bits era FTW!!! It sucked that I sold my SNES. Well, the Wii's VC is helping me.
Right now, I would say from the consoles that I liked to play to the meh category:
The best: SNES
N64
Sega Genesis
Wii
Playstation 2
Playstation
NES
GameCube
Dreamcast
Xbox 360
Xbox
Playstation 3
NES to SNES was by far the best for me. I had probably over 200 games combined from the systems, and it was because of those two systems that I will NEVER give up on Nintendo. NEVER.KenpachiSama
wow over 200 games??? amazing
Super Mario 64 was the first 3D game I've ever played. I dont think a game will ever make me feel as great as when I first played it. Jumping from super mario bros 3 and sonic the hedgehog 2 to Mario 64 is a big thing.

Yeah, I know. When I thought about it, I was even shocked. I went through a list and checked off all the games I had, and it actually was 214 (probably more). hahaha.
As for now, I only have 1 game for XBox 360, 6 for the Wii, 5 Gamecube, 2 PSP, and 7 DS. 5 systems combined for only 21 games. There's just something sad about that. Games really don't have the replay value that they used to have, and the other problem I see is that games don't have lasting value. I remember when I was 13 and I beat Little Nemo on the NES, I did NOT want to let anyone borrow it because I felt that I really did "own" the game. I beat a game now (or sometimes not even) and I want to get rid of it as fast as I can - because if I wait, the game will be worthless.
That's my final rant on this topic. hahaha.
N64 was awesome. But I like the Wii. Because I can download 64 games on it :P.
But yeah I think that was my favourite gen. I started with the NES and completely skipped over SNES (I was young and never even heard of it) and I moved directly into the PS1 and then later N64.
