M$ bought Rare...Nintendo got rid of Rare and haven't found a suitable replacement to develop the DK games.

why did they split up?gameraim1Microsoft bought Rare, so that's why you don't see Rare games on the Wii, M$ let's Rare make DS games ( Diddy Kong Racing DS, Viva Pinata DS ) as they are not in the handheld race.

It died when Rare died
Rare is not dead they are Banjo Kazoie for the 360. Donkey Kong is dead lets just face it. And hey you may never know Hal Inc. the creators of Super Smash Bros. could create a Donkey Kong game.Rare killed it with the horrible "wash, rinse, repeat" strategy for the franchise.
Not only did the three games in the Donkey Kong Country series lose more then half of the users but it brought Donkey Kong to a level where the only way Nintendo could keep it afloat was to do spin offs.
It's the franchise that's suffered the most damage when you bring up all of Nintendo's major franchises.
Get your facts straight. Microsoft didn't buy Rare, Nintendo SOLD Rare. Miyamoto didn't like them.toadster101True,this trailer tell's all!

Mircosoft purchased rare but rare had a lot of key staff leave the company. a lot of the goldeneye staff left andcreated free radical design the people that made haze and time spliters and i belive some other people left for like sony or something like that so the entire company has been falling apart anyway.
So legally Nintendo could make a new Dk, right? Correct me if Im wrong, but Rare doesn't own the franchise, Nintendo does. So the game could at some point, be back. I doubt any time soon, but its possible.Spaulding97
yes but all the popular and most successfull Donkey Kong games were made buy rare with the exception of Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong 3 all the other good games were devopled by rare im not even sure nintendo knows how to make a donkey kong game

This is basically a "the glass is half empty/half full" thing. Nintendo sold RARE, but Microsoft bought RARE, someone had to buy it from Nintendo. they didn't sell it to nobody. And, get YOUR facts stright. True Miyamoto didn't seem to like RARE, but the Stamper brothers sold their 51% ownership to Microsoft, leaving Nintendo to be forced to sell their 49%.

No they didn't If you're going to bump old threads get your information right Nintendo SOLD it's shares back to Rare. Rare then had complete control of the company which in turn they sold to Microsoft. There was NEVER a time when Microsoft and Nintendo owned parts of Rare at the same time.Alot of people like me realy enjoyed Rare's Donkey Kong games. The unfortunate death of the 'late' donkey kong is Nintendo's fault for not puting alot of effort into the Franchise.Rare killed it with the horrible "wash, rinse, repeat" strategy for the franchise.

... okay... creating a DK game that uses a totally unique and new game mechanic, that puts you into the game with the bongos is not putting in effort?
