I just bought Kirby's Adventure 3D Classics and it looks great, but then, when Nintendo put Super Mario Bros. and Metroid, without the 3D Im not sure if i want it them... the real deal putting Virtual Console games in the eShop was to have them with that "extra" 3D option

I understand that Gameboy/Advance were meant to be without 3D, but the NES games ?

anyone?

I think I remember Nintendo saying a while back that the 3D conversion wasn't very simple to do. It could be that Nintendo just wants to release the games now, and possibly update them later, or it just won't bother with it for every game.

It's apparently a little more time consuming than one might imagine. Besides, many games don't lend themselves to 3D all too well. Kid Icarus required background art that just isn't possible on a NES, there were two top-down shoot' em ups. An almost remake of an incredibly small game, Urban Champion, and then ExciteBike, which had been completely rebuilt from the ground up, just to support 3D.

Although Nintendo did demo a ton of games, including Super Mario Bros, Punch Out!!! and Castlevania before the consoles launch, they had said that there would only be 6 games in the series.

The 3D Classics Collection merely existed to give gamers something to purchase while we waited for the eShop to take off. Now the NES Virtual Console is off the ground we might not see any more games.

What a waste of excellent potential. Steady releases of 3D Classics really gave something to look forward to once a month or two.

thats the problem is that nintendo didn't know how hard it would be with a lot of games and there was a lot of games that nintendo tried to make a 3d classic that just wouldn't come out right also people forgetting that nintendo said before they started to make the 3d classic's that they only wanted to make 5 of them and we got 5 of them the only reason why they are doing id Icarus is for anyone that never played the first one can play it before they play Uprising.

I'd actually rather just play the original version. The 3D didn't do anything for me on Excitebike.

It didn't add much to the gameplay, but it was a nice novelty. A widescreen version of the game with some additional visuals. Online play would have topped it off, but it came out too early for that, unfortunately.

It's a shame they didn't make Punch-Out! a 3D Classic since that's such an obvious one.

Same. They're just doing it so they can sell the games for more than they would otherwise go for. But the 3D doesn't even look that great on them as the games were never designed for it anyway. It's a pretty shameless cash grab.

according to another site. 3D was harder than Nintendo originally thought so they only wanted to make 6 in total as of now. This could change it's only the start of the 3DS' life.

Yeah as everyone said it apparently was harder to do that they thought. I remember reading at one point that they were only going to do like 6 altogether. I could go either way. I got excitebike of course and also Kirby. They both looked pretty cool but I could live without getting anymore. Besides, I was never really that big a fan of NES games. 3D SNES games would interest me much more.

The next 3D classic coming out would be Kid Icarus, to go along with pre-order promotion. They should of made Super Mario, Metroid & Punch Out! in 3D... What a miss opportunity.
