The Gamecube, in my opinion, was..slightly below satisfactory.I actually have a Gamecube, although the last timeI played it was...well, honestly I can't even recall the last time I played it. People have to admit: Resident Evil 4 was a GREAT game. The new Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess, was also a good game. But suffice it to say, even before the Wii came Out, the Gamecube was dying. And then, Nintendo releases the next-generation Wii. The next thing you know, people are wondering what your talking about when you ask them if they have a "Gamecube". (Oh and just to put this out there, I'm not saying the Wii is abad system, I'm just saying that it virtually KILLED the Gamecube) So, I'm asking you, The people of Gamespot, why do you think the Gamecube died out?

It was basically a useless system in the first place. There is no need for it since the wii is a gamecube on steroids. Nintendo doesnt want to sell the GC anyways, they want to sell Wiis

Millions of Gamecubes have sole in the past 6-7 months...

Their just bundled with Wii Sports,a Wiimote, and a Nunchuk. LOL

But seriously, just buy a Wii and play your GC stuff on it. Wii's backward compatibility and some great GC titles is making me purchase GC joysticks and games. During the last gen, I wouldn't have got caught dead even looking at GC stuff.

The same reason the original Xbox died out. (The PS2 is the only last gen system that's still selling.)

The real reason? Due to slagging sales and the promotion of the Wii console, Nintendo ceased production on the unit and redirected titles and hardware manufacture towards the Wii.

My favorite reason? "What's this? Gamecube is evolving! Your Gamecube evolved into ........... Wii!" *Evolution music*

The GameCube died a long time ago. I say around TGS 2005 when Nintendo showed off the Wii (known as the Revolution then) controller. All talk was about that. Nintendo had a lot to prove and all attention was focused on something new. When Nintendo starts to ignore its system, you know it's dead. Now, I don't hate the GameCube. There are a lot of good games for it. The problem was it was all 1st or 2nd party titles. There were few 3rd party games that were good on the Cube. So, the Cube had a short lifespan.

The GC died way before the wii. It never really took off. Does it really even matter? The wii is out now.

Says you! GCN was the system I played the most. I know I am not the only one either, so saying it was useless is just not true. That kind of statement belongs elsewhere.

The Gamecube really isn't dead, but Nintendo abandond it as soon as the Wii came out. It's basically the same thing microsoft did with the Xbox when the 360 came out. Sony is the only company that actually uses one of their older systems, but I hate the PS3 so I don't care what Sony is doing right now. I say Gamecube isn't dead because there is still Twilight Princess to buy for it but Im pretty sure here soon everyone will have played it and there will be no more cube. Wait..im like 8 months behind...yeah the cubes dead...XD

the GC sucked and died long before the Wii. there were very few quality games for the GC compared to other systems, it was highly underpowered with nothing about it to compensate, so it didn't get 3rd party support, and so there was very little reason to bother with it. hell, I still own my SNES, but I've sold my GC.
