For a long lasting single player campaign, I say FF Tactics A2. For a innovative and different game, FFXII Revenant Wings. To enjoy a classic, FFIV DS. Yeah, they're all pretty good, but the one I enjoyed the most is FFIV because it's a classic.
Either Tactics A2 or Final Fantasy III. If your interested in FF IV, I'd recommend the GBA version since there's more new content (and ones the DS version lacks).
I love and own them all, but I'm also gonna have to go with FFIV. I love how they upped the difficulty, and I quite liked the voice acting (especially Kain!!)
Of course, if they ever release a remake of Final Fantasy VI on the DS, it'll blow them all away ;) They would have to be careful with it, though. It's one of the most treasured FF's...it'd be like them remaking FFVII on the PS3. Great idea, but if they eff it up, a LOT of people would be pissed >_>

No idea :/ You'd think they would, being a fan favourite. I think the DS will be around for a few more years yet, but if an FFVI remake doesn't make it to DS, can prolly expect it for the next gen handheld.
