It's because of the way Nintendo's marketing the Wii. It's not meant for gamers that Gran Turimso / Forza levels of simulation, nor Battlefield or Halo's amount of multiplayer depth. It's meant for basically playing in the living room with family and friends and having simple fun.

Who said this? I guess it's again the 360 fanboys who wants FPS, online gaming and HD graphics. I begin to be really pissed of them who thinks if it's not an online shooter in HD it's not good.

If a 10 year old can figure out the water temple in Ocarina of Time, then I'm sure they can complete Twilight Princess. Haha yeah, I played A Link to the Past when I was proably 8 or so, not too far out of question. Mind you, I wasn't 100% aware of what to do, but I enjoyed it none the less.
Well they're wrong because I know many hardcore gamers who bought a wii. Also, the other systems don't have pure fun. If youn play 15 minutes, you really don't have fun. If you play the Wii, you do. The wii is based on pure fun, and that's what I like about it.
ok iam going to say this u know what a hardcore gamer is u think lets say gears of war types no A real hardcore gamer is in it for the love of video games ok iam acollector i buy games for all consoles and yes i pritty much have everything so my way of calling HARDCORE is to play the games of all kinds weather u like it or not u have the power to know what u like even if its from nintendo sony 360 ect dont let anyone tell u what u cant buy because they hate it or its not too HARDCORE and if they think wrong well u know as reggie would say NOT MY PROBLEM thats the way i see hardcore in my veiw.

People only say that because there aren't any great shooters for the Wii yet and because the Wii doesn't have online multiplayer yet (as of 4/4/07). When the Wii has great shooters, online multiplayer operational, SSB Brawl, Man Hunt 2 and Grand Theft Auto IV...you'll just remember today and laugh
But a true hardcore gamer doesn't neccessarily like the new fangled games like Gears of War or Halo. Those games are after all just about so-so gameplay and good graphics. A hardcore gamer can beat Legend of Zelda the Second quest without losing a life. A hardcore gamer can beat Super Mario Bros in under 5 minutes. A hardcore gamer wouldn't own a 360. A hardcore gamer would own a Wii.

 I, personally, love the Wii but I also know that it is not currently geared towards the hardcore gamer (some new releases that are coming out might change that). However, it boils down to this: For the best graphics, best controls and most hardcore games, BUY A PC. The Wii's success is due in part to the fact that it does not sugarcoat it to sell it as "the thing of the future" when the PC it two steps ahead. They just say, "Here, have fun."  And they're doing a damn good job of it.
Mad props gameroo, you tell it like it is. So-called "hardcore gamers" nowadays are just punks that think they are "SuPer 1337" because they can "PwNzOrr" you in Halo. Real gamers know their roots and real gamers know The Big N.

I'm a Veteran Gamer, rather than a "hardcore". I got my Wii because it's fun. I love my PS2, but Sony really messed up with the PS3...so I won't be getting one for many years (mabey never). Nintendo is mixing both old school and new school with the Wii, and I like it :)
They way I see it PC is the only real hardcore platform, it's not like people will ever organize themself and create as HUGE online gaming community as there is for PC games, just look at WoW or CS. I just can't believe that people are actually playing shooters on PS3 or xbox360, like why would you like to play with an analog stick when using a mouse is at least twist as fast and accurate and chatting with your opponents/teammates is done much esier. Silly silly console nerds. Wii is the only console who offers something you can't get better on a PC.
