Now for those of you who recognize it it's the ad for Mario Kart Wii in the US and it's FANTASTIC.

While I'm sad to see the "Wii would like to play" ads changed to something else this is a perfect example of an ad that's going to catch people's eyes and is odd enough to have legs.

It shows off the online

All in a package just tapped enough to stay in people's minds. This is going to air at the 4:30pm block on Cartoon Network and it's also going to air at the 1:30am block of Adult Swim. It hits boths audiences perfectly.

This is yet another masterpiece from the kind folks at Nintendo.

This poster I'm quoting? The ad is not for him, he/she already knows about the game.

This is for the people who don't know about the game. What they see is an off the wall ad that mimics real ads that play in just about every single state of the union.

As we've seen in this thread people already take notice of the ad, that's what an ad is supposed to do. It's supposed to make you notice the product.

Call me crazy, I liked it. I missed Nintendo commercials like this. It's insane, original, and funny. Is it any worse than this commercial?

i loved that one as a kid where pikachu, donkey kong, mario and yoshi are prancing down a field of flowers and all of a sudden, BEAT THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF ONE ANOTHER. n64 ads were the best.

Yeah, but after people take notice of the ad they are not supposed to be like, "that was the stupidest commercial ever" or something along those lines. I know for a fact that my father will definitely change or mute the channel the minute he hears that commercial. Just because you like this commercial does not mean all of America will or that they will even pay attention to the commercial at all.

They most likely don't go to IGN or GS to see what games they might like to play but instead make a swing by the game section when they are at BestBuy, CircuitCity or Walmart to take a look at the selection and maybe make a purchase.

And while looking at the games they instantly recognize Mario on a box labeled Mario Kart Wii and recall the silly commercial they saw the other day and bang, a Sale.

Or they remember how annoying the commercial was and decide that they do not want to purchase it. I can easily see this commercial annoying the audience Nintendo is targeting. The guy yelling and repeating stuff in the same tone is quite annoying. I know if I wasn't into video games and I saw this commercial, I would think it's stupid and probably not want to buy the game.

I see. I don't think you're quite following what I'm saying. You mentioned that the point of an ad is to attract attention, I don't think the way to do that is by copying one of the most common commercial themes. I'm not saying that people confuse them, only that you don't attract attention by being the same as everything else. This is just another commercial with a guy yelling at me to buy a product...in fact, I won't even have a chance to confuse them, because I'm not going to pay attention to a commercial that's just like all the others. I won't give it the time of day, and I don't think most other people would either.

Not that it really matters, it's mario kart and it's going to sell like crazy no matter what.
