Most gamers play their portable while commuting or out of the house. IE: Not a whole lot. They play their consoles at home, and let the portables just sit there.
The DS changes that. I get more use out of my DS at home than anywhere else, and consider it my "main" console. The bigger screens (compared to previous game boy systems) and the fact that there are TWO screens, a lot more buttons, and a touch screen make for endless possibilities.
The games are great, I can take them anywhere, and I can game non-stop as long as I can find a wall outlet.
The touch screen is an inovation that actually works well and has been integrated into games well... and I can carry "Mortal Kombat", "DOOM I & II", and "Resident Evil" with me everywhere I go. 'Nuff Said.
Some of the most awesomest games ever. On my way to band tournaments, me and people on the bus have 8 player mario-kart for nearly 2 hours. It's just too much fun =)
Cheap Price, great games, good battery life, the (most of the time) responsive touch screen, lots of remakes of some of my favorite games, download play, simple to use and DUDE, It's NINTENDO!
The fact that even tho nintendo was botton of the heap after gamecube didnt do to well but still wernt afraid of taking a chance & trying something totally new & completey diffrent to what is normally done. It could have floped big time lucky it didnt & we now have the greatest handheld ever. Nintendo rock big time
bad @55 games and a completely different way to play some of nintendos classics easily makes this portable the best ive ever seen...plus the DOWNLOAD PLAY feature is crazy amazing seeing that my friends dont have 2 buy the game for us 2 enjoy some multiplayer action...but they buy it anyway =DDD...ds ROX
i think more connectivity w/ the ds and wii will make it even more awesome...which is possible...when that ds2 comes out, that "WILL" have on-board memory...i guessing that memory is gonna be for virtual console games that can be d/l through wii & ds connectivity...or maybe demo games...or maybe your own music...ds2 is gonna be a psp killer!!! cant wait

P.S I'm not a Sony Fanboy I just hate the ds. Personally I think Nintendo's the best

i just got it i love metroid prime and zph they rule touch screen is like the best advancement ever its one of the best systems let alone handhelds ever i think already looking at its games and playing metroid
