HAHAHA, so YOU'RE one of the people who fell for my April Fool's joke? :D Nice to finally meet one of them, and if calling it "false advertising" helps you sleep at night a month after you fell for the prank, then go for it! The people who can't take a joke have either already left or have been spending time trolling the Report Spam button on my comment sections, so I don't think I'm the guy with a problem here ;)
In all seriousness as one human being to another, if you can't get over a prank that cost you nothing, didn't injure you or cause you any harm, nor publicly embarrassed/emotionally damaged you, then I think you really need to re-evaluate your ability to perceive the world. There's a time to be angry and hold a grudge, and there's a time to just get over it the instant it's all said and done. This is one of the second situations. The fact that you cannot concerns me on a number of levels, because it's not normal to still be this bitter over a month later given the nature of the matter.
Bad dog, bad &*@!&^&@@ dog!
You're a sleeze.
That wasn't an April Fool's joke you moron that was a desperate ploy to get more views.
You're a fraud, you're a &*@!&^&@@ YouTube fraud. Your audience isn't organic it's fake, just like you and whatever crap you spew out of your mouth.
You have to bribe people for subscriptions. You make promises, get some subs and then backtrack saying April Fool's then buy off some subs with eshop cards.
I've looked at you with pity on this forum like "awwww, well he's trying"
Well I guess trying just jumped ship and you're all out to "being a total dirtbag trying to get an audience"
Not only do you not know the basics of the game industry you know nothing when it comes to presenting yourself to the public.
Take a bow, you are completely void of any redeemable trait so far.
Since I know that anyone with half a brain that peruses my channel (and doesn't have coping issues with my April Fool's prank) will immediately see the fallacy in your words, I won't bother with that part.
What DOES concern me is that watching you lose your cool was a bit saddening. I'd ask if you're okay, because resorting to namecalling and slander to someone who has done nothing to you is usually a projection of personal issues. I don't know what you're going through or if everything is okay, but your adamant focus and fixation on trying to make me look sad and desperate over you falling for an April Fool's prank is not a pretty image right now...

OP's theory is pure fiction. Like really, you honestly think a company is going to shoot the shit for over a year? Really?
I did respond earlier, I didn't say they did nothing, I said they held back on advertising/marketing in the hopes that the "Wii" brand name and IPs would sell better through word of mouth. Clearly they didn't meet what they expected, but that doesn't mean they didn't have this planned out. The fact that Nintendo's advertising spending massively spiked in Q4 (and it takes months before this spending shows up) and that at the end of Q4 the Wii U is announced to be sold without a loss is something that can be potentially more than coincidental.
Something I didn't share in this thread is that there is also a factor in the whole "software profit" thing that Nintendo most likely took into consideration. The Wii has a 9:1 ratio of software to hardware over a 7.5 year lifespan, this only equates to 1.2 games per year purchased on average. Since the Wii U was sold at a loss, and it was disproven that a single game sale turned it profitable, it most likely took TWO games purchased to make it profitable. Looking at the Wii, they probably figured that there wasn't much of a chance of selling 2 of their own games per console. As I mentioned above, none of us actually knows what they were thinking, but it's far from the level of stupidity people love to believe. My thread title isn't the same as it is in another forum because of the 60 character limit, but the thread title was actually "What Nintendo's Financials Actually ACTUALLY Mean... Probably". It was a bit more clear I was conjecturing for the sake of positivity, but more implying that a company like Nintendo always has a plan, and even if the results aren't as expected, it doesn't mean it's a bunch of idiots are running the company that need to be fired...

Bingo Lol Nail on the head Jay.
Funny how he says "There's a time to hold a grudge". There's never a time to hold a grudge lol That stuff will mess ya up if you hold those lol
So while he's trying to make me look like a fool, I've enjoyed myself quite thoroughly today lol
I'm glad that, despite your attempt to mask your bitterness up until now by dramatically changing your tone, you finally understand what I'm telling you and are ready to move on. Some part of you must finally realize that holding a grudge over an April Fool's prank that brought no harm to you in any way is absolutely ridiculous.

no company says let us sell the least amount of units until we can reduce productions costs. Nintendo was relying on the Wii crowd to return for Wii U. That did not happen. The system is selling worse than Gamecube. Mario Kart will sell units, but will it make systems fly off shelves for months? The short answer is no. Nintendo has 2 Mario games out now that did not push hardware. Mario Bros Wii sold insanely well, but Mario Bros U did not. Mario Galaxy moved Wii's but 3D World did nothing for the console. It sold like half a million out of the gate and then slowly declined. It has only sold two million in 6 months. Those are weak sales for Mario adventure title. Smash probably will not save the system either. It will sell a good bit, but the 3DS version is going to sell a ton more. With Nintendo releasing the 3DS Smash Bros months before the Wii U version, it is shooting itself in the foot.
Nintendo's other problem is that the software on Wii U mimics that of the 3DS. The 3DS has Mario 3D Land, Donkey Kong Country Returns (the better game), and New Mario Bros 2, Smash Bros, and Mario Kart 7. Granted Mario Kart 8 looks to be a lot different than 7. One could argue that games like Bayonetta 2, The Wonderful 101, and Pikmin 3 are not on 3DS. That is true, but the 3DS has titles like Professor Layton, Bravely Default, Luigi's Mansion 2 and more. Nintendo made the Wii U too much like the 3DS so why is Joe shmoe going to buy a console that is $300+ dollars when he can pick up a handheld for less than half of that amount and get very similar titles at cheaper prices? Why should Joe Shmoe get a Wii U for $330 when for less than $100 more he can pick up a PS4 that has game announcements for it every week? Even the "big" titles like Watch Dogs that are coming to Wii U are an afterthought. Ubisoft is just now concentrating on the Wii U version after every other version of the game is done. WOW. Way to go
I am not trying to compare consoles, I am just pointing out the fact that development on Wii U is not seen as a priority by third parties or by Nintendo itself.
I never said they tried to sell the least amount of units, I'm implying they tried to balance the hardware losses by cutting back on marketing/advertising by relying on the brand name "Wii" and IPs to sell the console. Obviously we all know that didn't go as far as they'd hoped it would.
The attach rate for SM3DW is rather good, however, and the glowing reviews mean it will remain a system title with legs, so I'm not really all that worried about it. Joe Shmoe would spend $460 to get a PS4 with a game, and pay a yearly subscription (given that you want to use the the $330 MK8 bundle price) to play online. So going the PS4 route is $130 more plus monthly online fees. The reality is that Nintendo DOES play close to the chest with game announcements, but it seems they're poised to go all out now that the hardware can be sold at a profit.
You say "no company", but Nintendo is not just another company. As mentioned above in bold, Nintendo isn't exactly your run of the mill company. I have no doubt that they figured "why sell a system seller now, and have the hardware impact profits, let's just delay a portion of the games in order to ensure they sell at a time when everything means profits". Nintendo could be following the "marathon" method rather than the "sprint" method. Some companies don't care about rushing off trying to get first place, they'll gladly bide their time while their competition gets ahead, and then go for the marathon sprint when the luster of their competition begins to wear down. In essence, let the competition have their time, let them have their spotlight, and when the time is right, you shine when it matters. This could very well be Nintendo's plan with the way the news is shaping up about Nintendo's E3 plans! ;)
