What old NES/SNES games would you like to see remade on the DS next?

The trend seems to be the remakings of classic Squaresoft games recently. What game would you like to see other than Square games remade for the DS?

Mine would have to be Legend of Zelda: A Link to the past. I think if it was taken in the similar approach as Final Fantasy IV in terms of graphics it would work out fairly well. And having the option of touch screen capabilities as well as extra dungeons and wifi multiplayer similar to Four Swords would be icing on the cake. Normally I'm not the biggest fan of remakes, but I believe that A Link to the Past was one of the more powerful Zelda games in terms of presentation, narrative, and boss battles, that to have it be revamped in 3-D would work wonders and gain new legions of fans of the genre.

I said games other than Square, but I do agree that this would be a great remake as well.

One of the gradius games and aero fighters. I still play Aero Fighters for my SNES and I guess its rare, which is cool, but it is also a great game!

The Legend of Zelda - They could keep the game in the overhead perspective and make the enviroment (trees, rocks, enemies) in 3d.

Super Castlevania IV. id like to see it redone in the 2.5-d way they did the update of chi no rondo on psp. but the graphics probably wont look as good on a ds. plus i have no idea what they would do with the touch screen

I'd love to see a remake of Super Metroid or The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, because I never got to play those games when they were released and I'm a big fan of both those series.

A link to the past would be awesome. Phantom Hourglass was good and all, but it was just too small. Every island was miniscule and the dungeons just weren't big enough.

I'd like a collection of all the older Mario games on the lines of New Super Mario Bros. on a single cart. (if that's possible, but I believe it is) That way I could go back and play the older ones that I loved and missed.

Id like to see a remake of the original metal gear 1 and 2 for the DS, with awesome 2d graphics that would stay true to the originals while updating them for people new to the series

I'll have to second any mentions of Live A Live and Seiken Densetsu 3 as well as throwing up a recommendation for Front Mission: Gun Hazard, nevermind the fact that they're all Square titles. However, there is one game on the SNES (er, SFC technically since it wasn't released outside of Japan) that would still work well on the DS: Sutte Hakkun. It's basically a puzzle platformer where you have to collect these rainbow crystal things to beat a stage (preferably doing as little as possible to maintain the highest score since every action you take reduces your score from 1000), and you generally need to use blocks and some creatures that I don't know how to describe in order to get around. The catch is that both the blocks and creatures can be injected with red, blue, or yellow paint, which makes them move/act differently. (Still don't understand? Maybe this will help.) It could use the touchscreen for a stage editor, and in normal play, one screen would show your immediate vicinity (much like the SFC game), whereas the other shows a zoomed-out overview of the whole stage. The Wi-Fi capabilities could be used for high scores and uploading/downloading custom stages. ...Wait a second, wouldn't this fall under the "What if they made ___ for the DS?" sticky thread in a sense?

nah sony only has exclusive rights to certain titles in the franchise if any and that can change at any time, but konami can take the series to which ever console they want. And it was on the nes but that version is changed quite a bit compared to the original game that was on the Msx and Msx 2. What do you mean? Kind of like what they did with the Pokemon games?

On a side note, I'd love to see Super Mario RPG remade.

*ahem* Sounds like someone forgot about the MSX, which had the original Metal Gear (of which the NES game is a remake). Furthermore, it was the only platform to have Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake for several years, at least until MGS3: Subsistence. Still, I wouldn't mind having some Metal Gear action on my DS...but what would it have to offer over Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops on a certain other handheld that I own (not to mention Metal Gear: Ghost Babel/Metal Gear Solid GBC)? Good use of the touchscreen, perhaps?

Tough call. Super Metroid and Starfox remakes have potential, if done properly with some additions and new graphics. Sega's Phantasy Star and Shining Force series would also be very attractive. Shinobi, Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Streets of Rage, Vectorman, Ristar, and Comix Zone would also be allot of fun.

the older beat em up games like ninja gaiden or streets of rage. they should release like a updated version with graphics of all the streets of rage games, that would be so fun especially if they added multi card play.

Final Fantasy VI (I know, SE). But with the origin al graphics. Something like the GBA version, but with a graphic upgrade.

And, of course, Super Metroid. Also with 2D graphics, but witth an upgrade.

yea that's part of it, i would like it if the game were not overshadowed completely by the 3d versions. A remade 2d version would stay true to the original games while updating them and it would be its own experience for the ds that you couldn't get anywhere else cuz if it were 3d it would always be compared to the other games or the handheld games such as portable ops for the psp, and it probably wouldnt look as good graphics wise either.I haven't been very fond of 3D DS games that normally call for a joystick instead of a d-pad, so a 2d version in the lines of the originals and ghost babel would be cool but i dont know if they have even considered the idea, it has alot of possibility for metal gears game breaking game-play that could take advantage of the touch screen and microphone for some (psycho mantis) like experiences.
