Wiimote and nunchuck

If you're going to learn you learn the best

No other control scheme allows you to control faster, faster = better

Start out with the Gamecube controller since you are arleady familiar with it. Once you get a feel for the game and an idea of where you rank in terms of skill, then move to the nunchuck. I tried using the straight Wii mote, and not only hated it, but got my @ss kicked too.

Wiimote turned sideways, with the grab button assigned to A. I tried both the Wiimote+nunchuk and the Gamecube controllers to see what the fuzz was all about, but I ended up going back the the Wiimote turned sideways.

Gamecube controller, but that could just be because I'm so used to it from Melee. I've used the wiimote and nunchuck combo and the remote sideways, but I never got a good feel for them. Plus the Gamecube controller has the c-stick, which serves very important purposes in competitive matches.

that makes no sense cause if you learn with gamecube controller, you're just going to have to re-learn with wiimote+nunchuck cause all the buttons are in different places in comparison to eachother, so why not just learn it first?

I personally use the wiimote and nunchuk combo and it works great. Once I switched the jump and shield buttons around so that 'z' was jump and 'c' was shield it was really ideal. The only problem is that the grab button a+b doesn't always work too well but that's a small admission considering the extra freedom you gain.

Strangely enough I use the classic controller, but I believe in a way that no one else really does. First I make it so when you push up you don't jump. I make attacks such as smashes the B button, and specials the Y button. X and A are now my jump buttons. The R and Zr buttons are grab while L and Zl are shield, I figured why not have shield where the D pad is so I can dodge easier. This scheme works well for me in so many ways.

I haven't played Melee (newcomer to series) so I used Wii Remote and Nunchuck. I stink with the GC controller lol.

GC controller. The classic isn't bad either. Wiimote or Wiimote + Nuchuck suck in brawl IMHO.

Wiimote and Nunchuck is by far the best set-up. Really easy for beginers and once you practise, this control scheme delivers the best results. It's a win-win sitution.

For a beginner, even those not familiar with Super Smash Brothers: Melee, I would recommend the Gamecube controller. Interestingly enough, I started out playing Brawl using the Gamecube controller, but shifted over to the solo Wiimote only because I preferred jumping with the D-pad. And now I'm stuck. I went to go play some Brawl at a friend's house and I fumbled many times using the Gamecube controller.

I tried Wiimote sideways, then Wiimote + Nunchuck, then, when I got to the Gamecube controller, I never used another controller :P

Gamecube controller ftw!

i recently used wiimote+nunchuck w/out any changes.

then i decided to muck around with it and i'm like 10 times better.

what i do is i use tap jump so i don't need c or up on d-pad to be jump, so i make c grab and i make each direction on the d-pad a smash attack, so i can use quick smash attacks when i need em.

If you've played a lot of Melee, use the GC controller, since they control pretty much the same. The Nunchuck set-up is the best after that.

Depends on what your used to.if you play alot of gamecube, gamecube controller if you play allot of wii game that use the numchuck, wii remote and numchuck and so on.but I would only recomend wii remote by it's self if you really like useing the D-pad.

Everytime I play that game I use either the gamecube controller or wii remote-nunchuck;if you still have your GC controller try with that one first.

all xontrollers are great in my opinion... but when you use te classic and the gamecube controller, you have the advantage that you can use the c button to do smash attacks easily... so you can kill people real quick, but when you use de the wii mote+ nunchuk, you become a better player because you dont cheat and as some people before me mentioned you turn faster so faster=better

btw if you like my gamertag a guy called mushir123 made it for me... at the forum called "I can make you a Wii gamertag" go check it out... it is really cool
