So what are your feelings/thoughts on the Wii U's virtual console. Will we see the 21 N64 games that the Wii had on their store make their appearance on the Wii U? Will we finally see more GameCube VC games on the Wii U eshop? Will we see more of the Wii digital games (such as Kirby's Return to Dreamland and Donkey Kong Country Returns)?

Wondering what you all think!

@jasonredemption: I pretty sure we will see all the same stuff plus a few new ones maybe. I think we will see some Gamecube ones with all the cool controllers they are selling, but they have to fix the adapter shortage first. I dont think we will see to many older games getting made digitally, but rare Wii and DS games might happen. I think they might continue to do it for the new ones also. I hope they do, i like it a lot. Its keeps the value pretty good on the physical copies and gives people a digital copy who missed out or who dont want to play their disc.

I have no trust that Nintendo will even handle the service with half the respect it deserves. They've done nothing but bungle it since they started it on Wii.

In a perfect world, all your digital games would have complete backward compatibility for each successive console and they would carry over along with your account. However, seeing as you have to pay to "upgrade" your Wii VC games to Wii U VC games, Nintendo seems to be just starting to look at "Backward Compatibility as a Service". The good news is that if Nintendo and 3rd parties are making money off of releasing VC games, more will naturally come; and it seems to be speeding up are more people buy digital.

Rumors of the NX gives me hope that Ninty is making a universal platform much in the way of Steam so that you can play your handheld games on your console, your mobile games on your handheld, your console games on your PC, and even your VC games on your mobile. If you own the digital game and your device can play it, you can play it on it. If this is the case, I see the release of VC games slow down as everything gets ported to the NX instead.

@KillMaster: o, nvm, i thought you were wanting older games to be released and for them to slow down on making new stuff.

@elheber: i thought you only have to pay to get them put as Icons on the console. Otherwise you can transfer all your VR games for free to Wii U.

@iandizion713: The old Wii versions (through Wii mode) don't support either the GamePad or U Pro controller. They also don't support off-TV play or any of the other perks that come with running in Wii U hardware mode.

I think in the future there will be an option to buy nearly all of the classics in normal or super rendered.

I bet we see the same N64 first party games that were released on the Wii VC. I have a hunch that the VC will feature gamecube games later this year and they'll announce it at E3.

Hopefully they'll release the N64 version of Majora's Mask soon so I can upgrade the free club Nintendo copy I got for $2 and then just be able to play it with my gamepad. I started it a month ago then stopped because I got busy so i need to start over because I forgot everything already. Now I figure I'll just wait.

Now that they're a cell phone game company I would think we'll see their work dedicated there, not so much the console.

@Jaysonguy: So you don't think they'll put their future match-3 classics, "Mushroom Crush" or "Rupee Crush" on consoles as well? ;)

It's funny you say that because before they merged with DeNA they tried twice to make games like that on the 3DS with pretty awful results.

I'm going to guess that's one of the main reasons DeNA owns the largest piece of Nintendo shares outside of Nintendo.
