I am so tired of this mature titles dont sell on wii crap. I see it all the time. That and the whole people whine about wanting mature titles on wii and then ignore them when they come out. Its crap! Dead Space extraction is the latest example. They take a popular and excellent selling series and dumb it down, turn it into a light gun game, call it hardcore and expect it to sell millions!?! Of course its gonna bomb. (Im not saying its a terrible game just not what most people want). When are the devs gonna learn? Is anyone else frustrated by this? Thoughts, opinions.....

If Dead Space: Extraction was 20 bucks, they would have had one million dollars in sales right about now.

Well, did you see any advertising for it? I think the probelm is that these kinda games don't get as much advertising as other games on the Wii do.

I have had fun with Dead Space: Extraction so far. That said, I bought the game mostly for the story, which I don't normally do, but I decided it couldn't be that bad.

somthing like quantum of solace a true fps would have sold more ,

its proven , given the 1 ,somthing million copies of waw ,, on wii alone , its probably more by now ,

quantum it self im sure sold over 100 k

then again w metroid prime trillogy still fresh , it was tough competition for dead space ,

wii games sell more over time ,

give it time, its not like 360 or ps3 where games sell a whole bunch in its first month then slip off the charts the 2nd month ,, exclusives aside , not many 3rd party titles do well on any platform , its not guaranteed , thankfully wii games do have more shelf life then others games ,

lets not forget it is an on rail shooter and also less expensive to be put on the wii to begin with ,

I'll say it before and I'll say it again. Brand name sells, so new IP's will often find a struggle on Nintendo platforms. Look at RE4 on the cube which had no audience by the time RE4 rolled around it moved about 2 million copies and another million or so on the Wii. If there were a RE5 or just any full on RE game on the Wii it would move millions again. It would perform better on the Wii than RE4 did on the cube. Now Dead Space is no RE so it cant expect to move 4 million copies on a Nintendo platform, I don't think it even did that on the PS3, 360 and PC combined. However if it was an exclusive, full fledged Dead Space game, it has enough brand name for it to pull in about a milliion. But they chose to stick it on rails and killed thier audience, contrary to what people believe, or maybe its intentional ignorance, there isn't much of a market for rail shooters these days. Umbrella Chronicles did not prove that rail shooters is a hot commodity on the Wii, it proved that brand name can get you far. But like I said, Dead Space is no Resident Evil, it cant rest on its brand name alone. So thats what sells on Nintendo consoles, a name, of course the game has to be of quality but that to be expected of the name it carries.

Maybe not. I've heard that there are long periods of time with no action, and if that's true then it wouldn't be suitable for what rail shooters are best at -- playing with friends at parties.

I don't really care for 'M' titles at all. However I would like to see a game targeted towards someone that is older in age, ie. More options, more depth, more thought / skill to play it and follow the story etc... No one can seem to deliver the package though. It is either shallow and gory, or deep and 'kiddy' on the style... someday maybe someone will make the whole package.

Most are niche and poorly advertised. And no that's not a double negative.

Resident Evil and Call of Duty sell on Wii. House of the Dead and other stuff people know about also does pretty well.

No More Heroes was Suda 51s most successful game.

Monster Hunter 3 will soon have 1 million copies sold in Japan.

etc.

Dead Space Extraction is a great game/movie so you never feel cheated, but at $31-50 it's too expensive in my opinion. Once the price tag goes $30 or bellow it will be a good deal and they will still make a good profit.

They treat games on Wii like they do on the 360/PS3 advertising-wise in some cases. They say "Hey, let's leave it to the gamers to create buzz and that'll sell the game." When people started looking at Gears of War on the 360, people were shocked because it was different than most shooters. That created a ton of buzz for the 360 gamers, they told all their friends and only after the buzz was super huge did they start advertising. People only get serious about advertising if they have an assurance that their game has what it takes to be a big hit. EA's problem is they don't advertise much anymore on TV and they just put stuff on gamer websites like IGN (I saw tons of Extraction ads on there). In a way they shot themselves in the foot on this one. If you want hardcore gamers on Wii or on the PS3/360 to buy Dead Rising Extraction then they have to prove to them why it's worth playing, on TV and at various events AND MAKE IT SOMETHING WORTH IT UNLIKE ANYTHING ELSE WE'VE SEEN ON/OFF WII.

Dude! There advertisements framing every page of website available on the internet TO THIS DAY for Extractin. I went to NFL.com and saw Extraction ads. They've actually done a great job advertising this great game.

For myself, I love the game. It's fantastic.

But I would have loved a true Dead Space game just like any Wii fan and I also understand that making it an on rails game does hur people's interest and can see the lower sales, as sad as I am to see the lower sales.

Yeah, they think Wii gamers are stupid. They think that if they water the experience down then we'll still love it. That's far from the truth. They need to talk to real hardcore Wii gamers to fix their situation rather than just giving up and sticking hardcore games to PS3. I don't know why MadWorld has low sales. Maybe too much gore, maybe it's because the game is too short. It's hard to tell because Wii gamers are very particular about the games we like and will accept.

Really I just wonder what its gonna take to get the developers to say" Hey the Wii is the best selling gamingplatform and I want to make full fledged full effort quality games for it, despite the systemstechnical capabilities".
