Besides the titles that were already announced, what, do you think, should be the future Wii U games?

Here are my thoughts:

Super Mario Universe

What is bigger than a Galaxy? The Universe, of course. Basically think a more massive SMG type platformer with a bit more freedom, openness and exploration thrown in there. Of course the game should be accessible to anyone (like all Ninty games tbh) but also offer a challenge to more experienced playes (with some difficult side quests, collectables and the like - again something Ninty is known for). The graphical engine could simply be the one from SMG and SMG 2 so they could just reuse many assets, just upgrade the graphics to HD res and add some new effects and new stuff in there. They could also add a 2 player co-op mode with Luigi in there (or even online connectivity).

The Legend of Zelda

The Wii U Zelda will be a polemic title because of the expectations of the fans. Some would like to see a sequel to Majora's Mask, some would like a new Wind Waker, some would like a top-down ALTTP style Zelda, some would like a sequel to Twilight Princess, ect. But here's what I think - the next Zelda should not try to continue any of the given games but be unique once again. They should simply make what they feel (here's hope for a totally "off-the-hook" Zelda game).

Mario Kart U

No Nintendo system should be left without a Mario Kart (except maybe the NES and GB since those couldn't handle it) so a new MK should be a given. I think they don't need to innovate drastically, basically just expand upon the existing games (better graphics, more vehicles, more tracks, more stuff in general).

Super Smash Bros.Ultra

A new Smash is already confirmed in the making, this time co-developed by Namco. This could either mean a deeper combat system or a strange mess that wouldn't please the fans. We shall see.

Metroid U

I think for the next Metroid, they should go back to the roots, meaning that the "meat" of the game should be traditional, side-scrolling Metroid shooting/platforming/exploration. The Prime games were fine and all, but I believe Metroid is best when viewed from a side perspective. The difficulty level should also be high enough and the game should demonstrate the console's capabilities (both, hardware and controller).

Star Fox U

For the next Star Fox, I sincerely hope they go back to the basics, i.e. make a rail shooter with fun and diverse missions, great graphics and a pleasing multi-player (both, infront of one console as well as online - co-op mode is must too). They could simply expand upon the concept, giving some more freedom to the player in some missions (those taking place in outer space for example), usage of different vehicles, and the like. On-foot combat could be included but only if it was done well.

Paper Mario U

A Paper Mario game since the N64 is a tradition. Personally, I'm not a too big fan but people enjoy it.

Kirby Ultra

Each Ninty's system had a Kirby game and Wii U should not be excluded. I associate the pink bulb with 2D platforming so the Wii U Kirby game should be a stylized 2D platformer as well. I only hope they don't make it too easy and/or too short.

Donkey Kong U

For the next DK, I'd personally rather see a 3D platformer than a 2D (or 2.5D, whatever) one. While the DKC games are nice and all, I think the series could expand where DK64 left. But this is just my personal wish. A new DKC wouldn't be shabby either, but I'd rather see the return of the pre-rendered, 2D style of the old, SNES DKC games instead of the 3D style in DKCR.

F-Zero U

Now a new F-Zero is really something that could please both, the fans as well as potentially move some units. While I undestand that GX floped in sales (despite it's qualities), just pulling the plug from the franchise would be a sad move since it's easily one of Ninty's best. The Wii U really calls for a new F-Zero title, with amazing tracks, face-melting speed, merciless difficulty (there could be a easy mode for wimps), a track editor (really want to see one since the F-Zero X Expansion Kit was released only in Japan and for the 64DD), a crazy online mode and great graphics. A good soundtrack is a must too, of course (preferably a heavy metal themed one instead of a techno one).

Wave Race U

Here is another game that was really nice back in it's time but now seems forgotten. Yea, there were attempts to kinda recreate it in Wii Sports Resort but that simply wasn't enough. I think it's a shame it's a forgotten franchise because it was great fun and had great water effects in it's time. I can only imagine how nice could the water effects and tracks look on the Wii U hardware and how the jet skis would control with the motion-sensing Wii U pad.

Yoshi's Island U

We haven't seen a Yoshi platformer since Yoshi's Story on the N64 on a home Ninty console. Now Yoshi's Story might have felt a little lackluster compared to the greatness of the SNES Yoshi's Island (no wonder, since the former was subtitled "Super Mario World 2"), but I wouldn't write off the franchise just yet. I think a 2D Yoshi platformer with hand-drawn HD graphics could be amazing. Platformers are Ninty's strongest point after all. It just needs to be diverse, long and offer a challenge to both, newcommers and experts alike. The trademark quality level design Ninty is known for should be there too, of course.

Pokemon Stadium U

Why Ninty don't make something out of Pokemon on their home systems will remain a riddle for me. The Pokemon Stadium games had a great success on the N64 (boosted console sales too) so I have no idea why they don't make a new one. They could expand it with some RPG elements from the handheld games as well.

Exclusive FPS game from Nintendo

Personally, I'm not a big fan of FPS games on consoles. I mean, who in their right mind would like to play a FPS with two analog sticks? It just sucks. But at the same time, there are quality FPS games on the consoles which make up for the lacklustre control. Likewise, FPS games on consoles tend to be very populaur these days. And Ninty did had a very successful FPS in the past, namely GoldenEye 007 on the 64. So here's my idea - give one of your talented teams (*ahem* Retro) the chance to make a new FPS based on a populaur license. It could be really big and move units.

New AAA franchise from Nintendo the quality of Zelda and Mario

This is another thing that would be nice to see. NES had BattleToads, SNES had Donkey Kong Country (familiar franchise but reinvented), N64 had Banjo-Kazooie, GC had Pikmin. What will Wii U have?

Discuss.

Obviously exlusive first party titles are expected. What would be an absolute steal is if Nintendo could convince Square Enix to release a new Final Fantasy exlusively on Wii U with their griping about Sony and Microsoft being late to market with new consoles. That would be awesome.

Please, god Nintendo, don't put "U" after every game title  Anyway... I want some goddam strategy games! A Sim City title would be epic, and perfect for the controller.

Final Fantasy is pretty rubbish these days. It'll already have Dragon Quest X tho!

I used that just for indentification purposes. Altho people didn't really have a problem when they gave SNES games a "Super" prefix and N64 games a "64" number at the end of the title.

Yeah, but "Star Fox U" sounds stupid. The name Wii U is stupid and makes no sense. Oh well.

Nah, Square Enix would say Wii U is not powerful enough, so they cannot make things pretty  . Forget Square Enix they're crap now...with the recent FF series getting worse and worse. Get the people who make The Last Story to make The Last Story 2 (in name only not sequel) etc ...or Xenoblade 2 (in name only not sequel). I'd rather see that.

A ShyGuy game.meetroid8
HECKS THE FUN YES!!!! :D Now We're talking :D Bring me that Shyguy WiiU Game Nintendo. Actually it'd probably be better suited for the Handheld market for now but a console version with Warioland Shake It Graphics would BLOW MY FUNLOVIN' MIND!!! Nintendo, Get on it!!! You're sitting on a Goldmine here

Nintendo, BRING BACK UNIRACERS AND STUNT RACE FX!!!!! Those titles were AWESOME!!! Stunt Race FX COULD be another HUGE racing game from Nintendo and so could Uniracers. Just imagine how awesome they'd be with 4 player Local and 8 player Online. Stunt Race had a few of Minigames already with it too. The Soccer game was my Favorite. Uniracers could be the High Speed Stuntfest title from Nintendo.

Last but not least, Nintendo, MAKE ANOTHER KIRBY'S DREAM COURSE!!! OMG I cannot Stress how great that game is. I like Super Star Ultra, Kirby's Adventure and the other Kirby games (Haven't played the new one on the Wii yet) but Kirby's Dream Course beats ALL the other Kirby titles even though it's not even a platformer. Not to say the other games are bad because for the most part, those games are amazing as well, but Dream Course just outshines them. The ways the Powers are used are the best I've seen in a Kirby game, the stage design is great, Multiplayer is a blast (From smacking each other off the stage to stealing each other's stars and landing that final shot) and the game is definitely a challenge. Nintendo, the Next Kirby you need to make should without a doubt be Kirby's Dream Course 2. 4 Player Local and Online play would be a Blast. If you haven't played that game, I have some instructions for you:

1. go to the WiiShop Channel

2. Go to Virtual Console Tab

3. Find Kirby's Dream Course on SNES

4. Download It

5. Thank Me for the Advice on such a great game

:D

Also @TC

About that last part, (AAA Quality like Zelda and Mario) WTCrap man? Leaving out Metroid? For Shame, That is worthy of Punishment.

It is really hard to top galaxy, I'm currious to see what they will do. A new graphics engine is a must though, Nintendo needs to showcase the capability of the Wii U. A co-op would be cool too, but not a simaltanious one... something more along the lines of a change off during check points in the level and swtching off, think early Mario platformer style, but more creative with how it's used. I think having two charecters on screen at the same time could get restrictive. A really awesome overworld would be nice too, with a bunch of unlockables.

I really want to see Nintendo go above and beyond with this. Zelda really needs to upgrade the formula. An openworld with lots of cities and kingdoms. A more populated world with lots of meaningful interaction. More items, item buying, selling, usage, upgrades, just more options so every outcome is unique. Voice acting for all except Link. Graphic style something like the demo shown last year.

I'd like to see comepletely re-imagined levels with more background action and detail (give me a new Sherbet Land). Customizable charecters, karts and bikes. A newer, more diverse formula for unlockables. Build upon the online mode that the Wii had with more options, really try to push the online community.

Super Smash Bros.Ultra

A new Smash is already confirmed in the making, this time co-developed by Namco. This could either mean a deeper combat system or a strange mess that wouldn't please the fans. We shall see.

Please Namco... keep the combat true to SSB roots. Give me new levels, re-imagined levels (new Hyrule temple), new items, diffeent effects for items. Put effort into online, give it no lag, allow 2 people per console to play online, ranking system, just make it good.

The primary Metroid game should be done in first, or over the shoulder third person. Make it story driven, but give it a nice balance of action, and good pacing. Include more weapon options and choosable upgrades. Include co-op.

Use the Star Fox Assult concept, but make it good. Both ground and flight missions are a must. A rail shooter wouldn't be a good idea

Paper Mario U

A Paper Mario game since the N64 is a tradition. Personally, I'm not a too big fan but people enjoy it.

Make it similar to Super Paper Mario, just stylized graphics and different content.

Kirby Ultra

Each Ninty's system had a Kirby game and Wii U should not be excluded. I associate the pink bulb with 2D platforming so the Wii U Kirby game should be a stylized 2D platformer as well. I only hope they don't make it too easy and/or too short.

Nintendo will find a way to do Kirby justice.

A 3D DK platformer would be awesome. Something on par (or at least close) to 3D Mario would be nice.

Yes. Good track complexity, and game depth is a must. Online mode is obvious. Having a good music variety, or being able to upload your own tunes would be a cool feature.

Never really played this game, but I'm all for trying a new concept.

Sounds cool.

Please Nintendo, make an openworld Pokemon RPG like on the handhelds for the Wii U. Have online battling and challenges, but keep the core game offline.

So here's my idea - give one of your talented teams (*ahem* Retro) the chance to make a new FPS based on a populaur license. It could be really big and move units.

A brand new futuristic FPS game that can compete with Halo and Killzone is a must. I'm not a huge FPS fan, but Wii U needs this in order to appeal to a wider array of consumers.

Something new, yes.

Discuss.

Well, I don't think it will be a Wii U exclusive because this game is also developed in Nintendo 3DS. Anyway:

  1. Mario Kart in Wii U(Can be titled as Mario Kart U)
  2. Winter- This game was in Development Hell in Nintendo Wi. However, last April 18, 2012, n-Space said that this game might come to this HD system and I hope for that.
  3. Pokémon MMORPG(or Maybe Pokémon Black & White Online)- I'm expecting to have a Pokémon game in online...
  4. Another Super Mario Game- The first Mario game, New Super Mario Bros. U, was in development. I hope the next Super Mario game will be Power Star Collecting(maybe Super Mario Galaxy 3). Hoping also in 3DS too, but not in same platform:D

More Ideas to come.....

Good. Great or superb, even. (I'm shocked no one has said that yet.) :P

Seriously, though, Nintendo doesn't have to go all the way down the well and produce to EVERY IP it has, much like it didn't for the Wii. Nintendo's goal with its Wii U games should simply be providing experiences that maximizes the Wii U's strengths within the framework of whatever game that's being made. This should be something Nintendo was thinking about as the Wii U was in development, so now it's just a matter of showcasing those ideas in an attractive fashion.

Also, while this thread has been primarly focused on Nintendo's franchises, now would be as good of a time as any to challenge third party publishers and developers to follow suit. I say this knowing that they don't have a lot of exclusive Wii U games in the works, and my personal interpretation on the matter is that it's very possible and likely the Wii U won't see a particuarly high volume of third party exclusives. Still, the excuses that third party publishers have been hiding behind for gens now without being challenged by the industry as a whole are not as visible at the moment. Now is the time for third parties to finally show that they're not only just as committed to delivering quality games on Nintendo systems as anywhere else but also as interested in making games for the Nintendo userbase. If by some miracle third parties can show these things, then the Wii U has a chance of getting some legitimate 'big deal' games that aren't out of Nintendo's camp for once.

Nice list, I hope nintendo pulls through with all this. I especially want to see a new star fox and pokemon game. I loved pokemon colosseum, so another game like that would be great, but with even more exploration. A new pokemon snap would be cool, and you could use the tablet controller as the camera.

Im also a big animal crossing fan, so I want the wii U to have one, but with some innovative changes so it's not too similar to the past ones. Also excited for new pikmin

They could also add a 2 player co-op mode with Luigi in there (or even online connectivity).

Yes,exploration should be a more prominent element, with larger levels.

Just give me my realistic, massive, mature Zelda.

Mario Kart U

No Nintendo system should be left without a Mario Kart (except maybe the NES and GB since those couldn't handle it) so a new MK should be a given. I think they don't need to innovate drastically, basically just expand upon the existing games (better graphics, more vehicles, more tracks, more stuff in general)

I'm never byuing a Mario Kart game again.

I haven't gotten one since DD...

Super Smash Bros.Ultra

A new Smash is already confirmed in the making, this time co-developed by Namco. This could either mean a deeper combat system or a strange mess that wouldn't please the fans. We shall see.

Please let it be good, with TONS of new characters!

Make MP4,and i'm sold!!

Would it be bad if they made one action-adventure and one like a classic Starfox?

Paper Mario U

A Paper Mario game since the N64 is a tradition. Personally, I'm not a too big fan but people enjoy it.

Kirby Ultra

Each Ninty's system had a Kirby game and Wii U should not be excluded. I associate the pink bulb with 2D platforming so the Wii U Kirby game should be a stylized 2D platformer as well. I only hope they don't make it too easy and/or too short.

Someday they WILL make a really awesome Kirby game!

Maybe....

No.just bring DK on the modern 3D era already,it's been since DK64.

Yes,but i'd REALLY like a 3D one,too.

Yes,make Pokemon Stadium 3 already.

YEEES!

Discuss.

Well let's see, make your choice out of the totally-not-game-rehashing list Nintendo checks every time they put out a new console [] New Super Mario Bros [] Proper Mario Game [] Mario Party [] Legend of Zelda [] Donkey Kong Country [] WarioWare [] Mario Kart [] Pikmin [] Super Smash Brothers [] Paper Mario [] Animal Crossing [] Yoshi's Island [] Luigi - starring game [] Some Sonic game [] Starfox [] F-Zero [] Metroid [] Old NES game revived because of SSB fame [] Ability to play every other known Nintendo game on every other previous console again. Starting with Super Mario Bros, only 4$! Use an "x" to indicate your choice.

So, I'm poking fun at Nintendo for becoming repetitive and predictable in their games, as well as for releasing something original / innovative once in a blue moon. Fun aside, I don't know where you get your games from, but for me the money factor is extremely crucial. I.e. I wasted 50 bucks on Animal Crossing: City something, because I already had Wild World on the DS and it was practically the same game. After that, I have to check on every new Mario Bros. game or Mario Party game to ensure that the differences between the new and old games are enough for it to warrant a novel gaming experience. At the end of this though, I'm sure like the sucker I am that I'll buy both Mario Bros U and Mario Bros 2, along with the new SSB, Paper Mario, Zelda etc. installment because it's god-damn Mario, or god-damn Zelda. That's probably what Nintendo counts on its fanbase.

I don't get your point. Those franchises are good so why should they not make them? I would not like to play some fully new but 2nd rate games. Also, the Mario and Zelda games had more changes in them than some fully new IPs.

I would love to see a M-rated Metroid third-person shooter. But I think Nintendo should outsource development to Yager (the developers of Spec Ops The Line). I would like the exploration and item collecting to stay the same, but add intel that can be collected to the mix. If the developers wish to implement a regenerating health system and cover system, that is fine as long as Energy Tanks are not removed. As for the graphics engine, I would recommend Unreal Engine 4, since it would show what the Wii U is truly capable of. Some new weapons would also be nice.
