Well I saw this deal in a Walmart add and they had a 4gb SD card for $10. Sounds good to me and I want to get GHWT for Christmas so I will need a card. Will the Wii work with this?

2 GB is the biggest officially supported. That being said, some 4 GB cards will work if they are not SDHC cards. The Wii does not support SDHC cards, but can be updated at any point to allow for the Wii to support SDHC cards.

4 GB SD non-HC cards can be hard to find, mostly because they're technically out of the original SD specifications. I don't have one, so I can't test it in my Wii or some of my other SD-equipped devices. Some people have made SDHC cards work on the Wii for a field of software we can't talk about here, so it's not a hardware limitation. Nintendo just needs to implement proper support of the slot, making any games and/or saves on the card accessed seamlessly as if they were on the internal storage as well as adding the SDHC support that it should've had from the beginning. (The Wii is a great console and all, but I can't comprehend why they'd have oversights like that.)

Well I just looked at the add and it is a "San Disk 4GB SDHC Card". Guess That Means it will not work.

this 4gb card works my wii:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208411

the trick to get it working is to have less than 2Gb of free space on the card. so I just put some large files to take up space and it works and if I ever fill it up, then i can just remove some of those large files and have more space available.

card is cheap and very handy for games like ghwt and the upcoming rock band 2.

if you need more specific instructions, then just search for "wii 4gb sd workaround" on google and you'll find what you need.

In the legitimate business world there's no such thing as a free meal. It's quite possible that the royalties and contractual obligations for SDHC are higher and stricter, respectively.
