What's next for Mario?

I'm talking about the main series, of course.After Galaxy, where can Mario go? It seems as though he's covered pretty much everything now with Galaxy. I just can't imagine what further can be done (but then again I'm not one of the insanely creative minds at Nintendo) for the series.

For a sequel? WellNintendo could make a straight forward sequel with the space/spherical world theme still in mind with the usual sequel improvements. They could also go back to the more classic Mario 64 design; that would be fun and great but wouldn't it seem like a bit of step backwards for the series? You could also introduce a new main gimmick like they did in Sunshine; could be good but would also be risky (as was Sunshine). I suppose Nintendo could also make a console version of the old school 2D platforming style Mario like in New Super Mario Bros.; but then again this once more seems like a step backwards.

Really I don't see where the series can evolve to and what kind of sequel could possibly have as much of a fresh impact as Super Mario Galaxy. Maybe, if Nintendo did something radical and revolutionary with the Wii Remote controls? Who knows

Who says it has to be in space? I mean we know more about the Universe than we do about our own oceans, so I think maybe Mario might have a deep sea adventure.

How about a mario game where he goes back in time

Maybe Mario can do what Jason did after he went to space. Fight somebody else in his game. Mario versus Sonic perhaps?

Reading that guy's post that said Mario Dimension gave me an idea. You could have portals that work the same way the portals work in the Orange Box game Portal. Jump in a hole and fly out of a wall. A bunch of crazy things like that could fit that don't make any sense.

but why dont we take that idea time travel plus dimesions and we got a game like bowser goin back to ruin the future so he end up king and mario gotta fight back, or alternate universe and mario find out hes the enemy and trys to take down he evil twin ... i dunno all idea but im sure nintendo will surprise us as always

Maybe Mario should try flying or something.

I mean Mario's adventures were all on earth and previously on space so flying with an airplane is something new.

But if flying isn't a good idea then what about PIRATE MARIO ??

ok how about Mario...but he REALLY IS A NINJA CYBORG FROM THE FUTURE, and mario has to try and stop himself by finding a secret syrem before the moon crashes into the earth thus setting the covenant on the innocent civilians and awaking the ninja cyborg from withen. Oh...and just because, the ninja cyborg looks like a giant ape.....
