All I see about it is that it's an oversized DSi.

Its not just for the old or people with eye problems. anybody can enjoy a bigger screen. i wouldve picked one up if it wasnt for the 3ds. but then again... how big are the 3ds screens going to be... are we going to have a chance to play our ds games on big screens again or is this our only chance?
Actually the only people I know who are saying that it's only for people with eye problems are those who are bitter about the XL in the first place.Thats exactly what it is. Most reviews have said if you have eye problems (older folk) then look into it...Otherwise if you're fine with the size of a DS lite/DSi, no reason to spend 50 bucks more.

Every report I've seen says the 3DS will be back to the small screens......maybe even a bit smaller than the DS Lite. This is another of my many reasons that I believe the 3DS and XL will co-exist.......because a lot of people, given the choice between a small 3D screen or a large 2D, will prefer the large 2D.Its not just for the old or people with eye problems. anybody can enjoy a bigger screen. i wouldve picked one up if it wasnt for the 3ds. but then again... how big are the 3ds screens going to be... are we going to have a chance to play our ds games on big screens again or is this our only chance?

Benefits of the XL:
1) Bigger screen makes games moreimmersive and also makes it easier to play games that require precision.
2) The sound is as good as a laptop computer's stereo sound.
3) The battery lasts much longer than on other DS handhelds.
4) Comes with a couple Brain Age games already installed.
5) The heavier weight actually makes it easier to play games because when you press on the touch screen, you're not moving the game system around.
6) On the outside, it just looks nicer.
All I see about it is that it's an oversized DSi.

The DSi XL is so big, it makes other DS models look small by comparison!"

Well.... i just got my dsi the day before the XL came out so im sorta bitter cause everything i read about it never mentioned it was coming out the next day >: ( , but the only thing i gathered that was a real upgrade was the audio. The large screen, from what i've read, is more of a preference cause it does do some distortion, and the large size is also more of a preference cause of how you want to hold it.
anyway, if i could do it all over again, i'd get an XL but i dont feel that it is a complete upgrade, at least that's what im telling myself :D
I only bought/traded for the Xl because my dsi was broken (surprisingly, Gamestop checked every button except the L and R buttons) the larger screens make games seem a lot more vibrant and IMHo, the distortion/pixelation is minimal and hard to notice
as everyone else has already, the Xl is really just a oversized DSI (or maybe the previous three consoles were undersized...)
