Whats the best classic controller?

I just bought Contra 3 and started playing it with the GC controller and it was awful with that control scheme. So now I want to know what is the best Classic controller that's out there since I know there are a few different ones.

Too bad it was only a club nintendo Janpan award, but at least I got mine before all the ebay ones sold out :D

You can still get them, they're just a little pricey, for the gamer on a budget:

A SNES to gamecube port adapter, just add a SNES controller

Here is what me and most other people do.

NES: Wii-remote sideways

SNES: Classic Controller

N64: Gamecube Controller

If you ask me, those are the most similar to the original.
