Both are awesome. I'll pick Donkey Kong Country returns. I'm having a blast playing this game right now.

My gosh is NSMBWii really a joke Jelleyo? I have it (new) right here and have yet to play it. Personally I am a tad dissapointed with DKCR when comparing it to the old ones. Not done with it yet, but still.

I edited my post because New Super Mario Bros Wii isn't a joke, I just think it is compared to DKCR lol. New Super Mario Bros Wii is just basically the DS version except with Multiplayer. The levels aren't too bad but after playing the DS version the game feels really uninspired. Donkey Kong Country Returns actually feels like a fresh new experience to me as there wasn't a DKC game in a while and it is much different to the other DKC games, and the levels feel more inspired.

I was always more of a mario fanboy. So my answer is New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I'm kind of mad Nintendo let Rare slip out of their hands.

I haven't played DKCR, but I wouldn't vote for Super Mario. The game itself is kinda fun but I don't like using a Wii remote for the game. I would rather have controls just like the DS. I haven't played multiplayer yet though and I hear that's fun. But honestly, I'm on the verge of selling it!

Im confused. Isn't using the Wii remote on it's side the same as the DS controls? On the Ds, the D-pad is on the left, and you use two buttons on the right to run and jump. And on the Wii remote on it's side, you have the D-pad on the left, and it has two buttons to the right to run and jump... isn't that like exaclty the same?

Well yes it's supposed to be the same as the DS controls on the side, but every single time I play, for some reason, pressing left on the D-pad does nothing, when it should make me go left. Pressing UP on the D-Pad makes me go left and Pressing DOWN makes me go right. I don't have time for that. Maybe it's not like that for you, but it's confusing as hell. Plus I'm not that good at the game to begin with compared to the DS version.

OMG, dude. Nevermind what I just said. I was always playing with the Wii remote to the side, but I never unplugged the nunchuck until now. LOL THAT'S why the controls were funny. Maybe I'll enjoy it a little more now. What a relief.

DK Country Returns by far for me. NSMW just felt like another 2d mario game that really didn't have that much originality besides the new suits. DK Country Returns felt original and much different then the original games. And the difficulty in country returns made it more fun really.

Doesn't the game even tell you right when you start it up how to hold the controller? May I ask how long have you been trying to play like this ?

Theres certain things I like more about each.

Although I played NSMBW alot more when I first got it. By now I would have beaten NSMBW twice over yet i'm only new to world 7 for DKCR.

I'm more of Mario fanboy than DKC (never bothered with the original Rareware trilogy, and I have no intentions of trying them soon) but DKCR is obviously the superior game.

You have to put the wiimote sideways. If you hold the wiimote vertically, the D-pad will act what you do. The down button will make your character go right. If you put the wiimote sideways, the D-Pad will be correct.

I say DKCR by far in my opinion. Mario Bros Wii just fell to much of the same, if you compare it to the DS version it's almost identical. What I still really did like about Super Mario Bros Wii was the multiplayer component I thought that was really fun. But, I think DKCR has it all, better level design, more stuff to do and just more polished.

I haven't really play mario bros wii except for 4 players. The levels in the multiplayer felt pretty much like the DS game. DKCR does feel somewhat like the older games, but it has an air of originality to it that Mario Bros Wii does not. DKCR has the barrell blast levels, albeit they are somewhat annoying. The level with the tidal waves was a cool idea. The level with the bugs or whatever chasing you was a bit different. My vote goes for DKCR.

DKCR is better, and although both are old formulas, it feels just that much fresher than the SMB3 formula.

DKC is def harder, Mario is maybe a little too safe in terms of challenge. i havent beat DKC yet....and NSMBWii is def a great game, but there are better mario games(SMG2). this feels like the best DKC game ever...so far.

Well Donkey Kong Country Returns is incerdibly fun and the levels are designed in amazing ways. As for New Super Marios Bros Wii, it works great at multiplayer and again is fun. As for the best, I'd choose Donkey Kong:D

Playing multiplayer in NSMBW seems like more of a burden to me. DKCR was built better for 2 players for mutiple reasons.

I'm loving Donkey Kong Country Returns. More so then New Super Mario Bros. Wii. NSMBW was in my opinion a good game but a bit of a disappointment. The Worlds and levels were easy. A few were challenging but there weren't many. The Level Designs and Secrets were a lot weaker then previous Mario Games too. Not a whole lot of yoshi either.I also had a problem with the motion controls that were in the game and found them to be a little too touchy.

I would barely just barely move the remote and bam I would start doing things I didn't want to do at the time which would get me killed. DKCR is by far a much more superior game in terms of Level Design, Music, andDifficulty (once you get to World 4 it starts to get a little more difficult). Graphicsare about thesame for both games which I think are gorgous.

Bosses in DKCR are aharder. Some not by much though compared toNSMBW. DKCR's is lacking in Collectibles and Secrets compared to previous gamesand was expecting a bit more variety instead of the same 2 secret levels over and over again for obtaining a puzzle piece. Only oneanimal to ride which is Rambi. You can't play as Diddy unless you play 2 player (can't switch between characters freely) which is a signature thing in DKC. So I have a lot of issues with DKCR and it would seem I have more issues with it then NSMBW but I like it more then NSMBW.

Also themotion controls are smoother in DKCR and I like how they put them to better use in this game. I'm more of a DKC fan but in reality I like it more because the Level Design is way better and there is a higher difficulty in DKCR then NSMBW and the music is awesome. The boss battles are also more fun and cooler in DKCR's.
