What's your favorite franchise? Zelda or Mario.

Over the recent decade or so there have been many great zelda games and many great mario games. A question i asked myself recently is, zelda or maior. zelda or mario. zelda or mario. So what i thought of the recent games that came out for both franchises, i say zelda is a little better then mario. i know mario is nintendo's icon, but it seems some mario games lately have been a little too cheesey or more fantasy, but back in the day, mario was just plain and simple. play the game. have fun. get some stars and coins and be happy. im not a party pooper for mario, im just sayin lately his games have been too odd like adding more and more to the franchise like superstar saga or some of the mario sports games. zelda on the other hand has been the same for years, not changed the location or style of game, just adding more weapons and characters. Zelda forever. Mario keep trying. galaxy was good, but not over super mario 64. comment your thoughts.

Zelda games were passed a decade ago and have never been able to regain the crown.

I see potential for a Nintendo fanboy civil war (hopefull it won't happen).

While Mario has tons of great games, I will never forget the feeling I had when I beat OOT or TP for the first time. Zelda wins it for me.

Mario, alot of people want him to vanish like Sega with sonic, like sony with crash and spyro and ratchet, but he destroy them all , and he is as important today like he was 20 years ago.

i've always liked zelda over mario, until this current generation. TP was starting to feel a little stale, but galaxy was incredible (though i haven't beat it yet). so i guess at the moment, it's a toss up for me.

Mario hands down.

I hate the Zelda games.

The Legend of Zelda.

They're more epic, they have a story, a badass main character, more challenging at times(you actually have to think sometimes), an all around superior series. Mario games go by way too quick. I finished Galaxy in a quarter of the time it took me to finish Twilight Princess.

mario is simply a really fun game, but it has little to no story and once you beat it you'll just say that you had fun playing it.

zelda on the other hand, is incredibly fun with amazing characters, epic storyline and tight gameplay. the feeling i got when i beat oot was amazing; its all just to bring an amazing experience from every possible single-player front

I agree, Galaxy was brilliant and Twilight Princess was lacking. Overall, I still prefer Zelda, but I'm concerned Nintendo are stuck in a rutt with the series.

Overall Zelda...MArio games don't appeal to me as much as they used to back when i was playing SMB3 and SMW

Althought I think Zelda is superior (prior to TP),

overall Mario is synonimous with more fun on average.

You can pick up a mario platformer and have fun immediately without so much

as an instant of boredom or frustration.

Zelda is superior in complexity and overall satisfaction once you actually beat the game,

whereas Mario doesn't provide any such closure at the game's "end".

I'm going with Mario on this one. The release of Galaxy has marked one of the crowning achievements in gaming with the complete 3D world.

Zelda games have been great but even with the Twilight Princess they've failed to even come close to the best game they've done, Ocarina of Time. Each Mario game seems to get better and better.
