I haven't played SMRPG but I have played every other North American Mario RPG. My list is: 1. Paper Mario 64 2. Paper Mario: TTYD 3. M&L: Superstar Saga 4. M&L: Partners in Time (I don't own it my friend had it) 5. Super Paper Mario (although I still don't consider it an RPG)
I enjoyed Superstar Saga and Paper Mario TTYD the most coming in second are paper mario 64, and Partners in time. I also enjoy SMRPG alot, i just havent played it in a while (got stuck on a boss a long time ago on the snes and havent played it since). And I didnt really like Super Paper Mario enough to finish it :S

Because what you people are not getting is I asked what is your favorite console Mario RPG. :P
1.paper Mario ( only because im a sucker for originals )
2. tied up with TTYD
3. although i havent played much of it on SNES, SMRPG
4. Super paper mario, i like it, its just... well for one its not really an RPG, and it IS fun, just... it could be better, harder, more... single genred
I like Super Paper Mario the best. The other games are great as well, but they don't have enough depth to really be taken seriously as true RPGs, so they might as well expand more on the action/adventure aspects of the game, since I enjoyed it a lot and it's fun.
Mario RPG is probably the better game, but the Paper Mario series feels more Marioish. All are amazing and funny games though. Of course Super Paper Mario like everyone else says isn't really an RPG. Its more like a story heavy action adventure (not that there's anything wrong with that).
I wouldn't count Super Paper Mario as an RPG really, but I guess it has some elements. Now, I'm in the process of beating Super Mario RPG, I've purchased it on the VC and its really been a blast so far.
