Everybody knows that the number one reason for owning a Nintendo console is for the fantastic first party games and that many critisize Nintendo's platforms for having weak 3rd party support. This lead me to wonder where in everybody's collection these "weak" 3rd party games are placed and explain why these games succeeded in providing you with quality entertainment.
For me, De Blob is the best 3rd party offering on the console. I used to absolutely hate this game when I first got it. I couldn't stand the length of the levels and the frustration of finding my way around them as well as the terrible jumping mechanics.
Later on, however, I had a sort of realization of how the game was meant to flow and then everything just clicked and it felt SO good. the jumping mechanics are still quite aweful, but this is without a doubt one of the most poilshed and meatiest platformer experiences I have ever had. I think every platformer should have something optional to force you to master the mechanics of the game to unlock additional and more challenging tasks (Yoshi's island and getting 100 points in levels to unlock harder levels, NSMBW and collecting star coins to unlock harder levels, SMG2 and collecting 120 stars to unlock 120 hidden stars which unlock the toughest two challenges in the game etc). DeBlob understands that in spades! When you rise above the bar of acceptable completion in a level, you are rewarded with a tougher level not to mention the MANY achievmentesque challenges for eachstage just begging you to master the game just a little bit more.
At this moment it is my 6th favourite Wii game of all time
