Do you button mash "A"?

And does that help at all? Because most people I know do that.

Right when it closes I press the a button, it doesn't do anything but it makes me think I have a better chance of capturing it for some reason...

Yeah, alot of people do that, but it dosn't help at all. I have heard that if you push the b button first and then the a button when the pokeball closes, it will always cature the pokemon (like a masterball). But I think it's BS.

No there isn't any higher chance of catching the pokemon by pressing different buttons. It is just a mental thing and most people think that by pressing a button it will help them even though it has no effect.

Back when Blue and Red came out I read on a cheat site that mashing the button helped. But I didnt find that it did.

I have this slight obsession with catching all pokemon with pokeballs so after the first 5 or so fail (like with legendaries) I start doing different combinations of holding/pressing buttons. Btw, I do actually catch the legendaries with the pokeballs.

In red and blue version holding the B button when catching ACTUALLY helped to catch the pokemon so a lot of the pokemon vets such as myself still hold buttonsout of habit.

it worked for extra damage on the first stadium.

and it helps keeping stress levels low when trying to catch a COUGHCOUGHstupidregisCOUGHCOUGH rare pokemon...

so yes i do it.

never knew if it worked, but if it doesnt, my luck "gets higher" when i do it...

As mentioned before, it did actually help with Blue/Red so people think it still does when in fact it doesn't.

I alwayz did 4 sum reason, from red-diamond i still do. In fact now since I have my settings to be L=A, I hold down and rapidly press A and L.

p.s. I caught a Suicune with a pokeball, Giratina and Uxie with a great ball, Rotom with a quick ball, groudon with a DIVE BALL!, and Mewtwo, Zapdos, Azelf, Rayquaza, Latios, and Heatran, all with ultra balls (i've never hacked or known how i'm just this good)

Nope, I never do that. I don't want to wear out the buttons on my DS just for some superstition.

When I played Pokemon Red, I always pressed up when the ball was thrown and pressed A really quick when the ball closed. My older brother told me it would help. He probably lied though. Haha.

I remember that, it was a huge thing even through Firered/Leafgreen. If anyone remembers the old cheatplanet, this was one of the things they listed as helping to catch a pokemon, lol.

Btw, I do actually catch the legendaries with the pokeballs.mach1inferno

Like which legendaries?I didn't think that was possible.

I was catching Azelf and Uxie on my diamond file yesterday, and I found the ball shook more times when I hit A. But it didnt do much.

Btw:

It took me 1 Duskball to catch Azelf.
It took me 10 Ultra, 5 Dusk, 7 timerballs, 7 pokeballs (before the timers), and 5 Nestballs to catch Uxie. QQ.
