When I play my GC games on this, can I use my GC memory card as well?

Let's say I want to play one of my Gamecube games, on a Wii. Since it's obviously saved on a GC memory card, is there any way I can plug in my GC memory card, so that I can have my saved progress? Is there a specific slot, or does it plug into the same spot as a Wii memory card?

Help would be much appreciated, thanks.

There's 2 ports for the GC memory cards near where the GC controllers ports are.

as chris said.. jsut wanted to add.... The Wii do not have memory cards, the data is save without it on Wii games.

btw... the GC memory card slots are next to where you connect the GC controller (on top if the Wii is on teh standing position)

Not only can you, but you have to. The Wii doesn't save any GC data in the internal memory. It's all handled through the GC memory card slots.

By the way, the lid covering the slot is kind of loose.

I was told the Wii DOES have memory cards. And I've seen them on Target.com and the such...They aren't required, as you can save it to the Wii, but I'd prefer to be careful and save it to a memory card, just in case.

Well, more accurately the Wii does not have a proprietary memory card. Rather, it uses standard Secure Digital cards (2GB and below).. the same used in most consumer Digital cameras (except those by Fuji, Olympus, and Sony) and many other devices as well.

Also, currently games only save and loaded to/from internal memory. You can move files to and from a SD card, but you must do it manually.

Since they save internally--do I tell my parents there's no need to buy a memory card just yet? And what if something happens to the Wii? Will my data be lost?

Yeah. Oh, and also tell them to avoid the SD cards that say "Wii" all together. You can get the exact same product for less if you look in the camera section (just remember, SD card 2GB or under... the 4GB+ SDHC cards won't work)

If it's still under warranty and you have Nintendo replace it, they can transfer your saves/VC games to the new system.

Okay, cool. Now--how does it work? IE, when you want to save a game? What do you do? Just go to "save," and it saves to the Wii?

Well... As said above, bc is not actually memory card, is SD cards work more like saving file on your pc.

Here are the full introductions.

and btw... if you are getting a SD memory card, i would advice you this one is made by the same ppl that the one that said Wii, but is 10-15US$ less. and even come with a reader :P

See you around

Correct.

Okay, that's cool. And I assume, that when you turn on the Wii, there is a place I can go to load one of my saved games.

Well, game saves are loaded in the same way as if you had a memory card (in game).

Oh, if you mean VC games, those are selected from the main menu.

Oooh, I see. So when I pop in a game, I go to "load," and it's there? That's pretty cool.
