A while back I found this post saying DLC is coming to wii Proof: http://www.wiigamer.nl/article/8895p1.html Translation: It was already available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for quite a while, being able to download extra content for your games. Think of extra maps in Halo 3, or new songs to play in Guitar Hero or Rock Band. Soon you will be able to do so on your Wii as well, as Takashi Aoyama announced on the GDC. In the future it will be possible to download content for a price. The option to do so will be available in the games main menu's. You pay Wii Points for this and there will be expansion possibilities for full fledged Wii games, as well as games you have downloaded on WiiWare. By the way, for the people who immediatly think of extra downloadable content for Super Smash Bros Brawl; It won't happen. In an interview with IGN, Masahiro Sakurai said it won't be possible to download extra characters. Too bad! Im praying to god this will be announced at E3 I have 400 wii points and nothing to spend it on.

it is already released.. Final fantasy for Wii Ware has it and so does guitar hero. Any game that has the red WiFi label has pay to play or pay for extra content.

Why would you want DLC for Mario? It is a great experience as it is.

Games end. That is a simple fact. DLC won't change that. As stated, the Wii already has DLC in game like Mega Man 9 and Guitar Hero: World Tour. I havn't used it at all, but it is an option for anyone with those games.

well you're kind of right but what irritates me is often times a lot of DLC was left out purposefully from the disc to get more money from gullible consumers. Sometimes DLC isn't really downloadable like in RE5's case where the DLC pretty much just unlocks content already on disc. The concept of DLC is great in theory but until publishers do it properly... I could care less.

Nintendo promised so much and delivered nothing (the Revolution was originally supposed to match the other 2 consoles in power, then they changed it to the Wii and said they would include a real hard drive and offer free DLC for 1st party games).

We got a underpowered console, with mediocre motion controls (Motion Plus could have been put in at launch), stuck with SD cards which until recently could not have played games from), almost no DLC (let alone free 1st party) and dreadful online. Good luck to you if you think you will get much DLC.

Lol, seriously Wii doesn't get DLC only a couple of games on Wiiware get DLC, "Final Fantasy my life as king" is one of those games and to be honest the DLC ain't great. You really shouldn't ever expect proper DLC for the Wii at least not for a years.

I could see them adressing that issue MAYBE in the future. It would probably work like the the way you launch Virtual Console games I would see it as. One of the recently released Conduit videos I believe its that Eric guy talking from HVS says he they have no plans for DLC but did sound like it was possible if there was a sequel so never say never.

OK i agree with all of you but there was a game called Tomb raider underworld and there was a glitch on level 5 where if u didnt go through the level fast enough it would dissaper causing you to restart This did not appear in the other version and there was no patch to fix it

Its already happened. I kinda wish it didn't, DLC is mostly useless and has things that could very well fit in the final retail disc. The exceptions are GH/RB because I can see why they have DLC, but other games don't require it.

With wii menu 4.0 update the wii can use up to a 32GB SD card. I think that is plenty of space for DLC. Plus if you do happen to use up 32GB of space there is always the option of getting a 2nd 32GB card.

I don't see how its "needed". The biggest games where DLC is important are RB/GH, other than that I don't see a real issue. The Wii has that now, everything else out there is just overpriced map packs. I also don't see the big draw for 1st party DLC, more often than not I'd rather them move onto a new game that fiddle around with new content for a released game. Actually, I bet more people would complain if they did, because the longer they spend on new content for DLC, then thats more time between other 1st party releases, which is apparently the only thing worth buying for a whole slew of ignorant people. The last thing I want is more complaining.

Some DLC is great like songs in Guitar Hero or Rock Band or mutliplayer map packs. Other DLC sucks like having to buy the ending to Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia, the versus mode to RE5, and buying an unlocking code for cars, clothes, or weapons already on a disc. Wii of course already has some DLC although due to the way the systems is set up it will never get DLC like the other consoles. Games can't be patched and most things can't be loaded directly of the SD card but have to be temporarily copied to the Wii's internal memory (like wiiware/virtual console games or songs in RB/GH) which limits the size of the DLC not to mention the loading speed factor. It kinda sucks but its not that huge of a deal.
