Don't seem like there will be. What do you think?

The 3DS can do everything that a DSi can do and more. You can still own a DSphat or lite if you still play GBA games.
Well what do you think? It's quite obvious that there is a point in owning one for such reasons:
Value (can pick it up quite cheap after the 3DS releases)
Collectable
Playing GBA games
There you go, 3 reasons to own it. Thus there is a point in owning it if you fit the previously listed reasons.
Other than that (and probably a few other reasons) then there is no point in owning one.
Sure, there's no point wasting your 3DS battery when all you want to do is play a DS game. Also, you risk losing more money by taking your 3DS with you if all you want to do is play a DS game. At least if something happens, it'll happen to a cheaper DS than a more expensive 3DS. When all you want to play is a DS game, a DS should be fine. They won't be worth much anyways, so you're not going to get rich or anything. Might as well use it as backup for those times when you don't want to risk your 3DS getting lost, stolen, or broken while on the go, or if you're self-conscious about wearing your 3DS battery down for non-3DS games.
Ds games are always so expensive so when the 3DS comes out i am finally going to be able to buy some good games for my DS phat.
I still own my original Gameboy, and it doesnt even have color. So, keep it for your collection, if you have one, if not then start one :P
So do I :o Yeah, I'll be keeping my Lite. The 3DS can wait.[QUOTE="Gamingclone"]

Though, if Im able, Imma gonna get the 3DS right when it comes out. I can see it now, camping out infront of target :P My mom has an employee discount ;)
I just bought a second hand DS, for not much money. ....and promptly found a homebrew that runs MS DOS on it. (LUV homebrew!!!!) So 'obsolete' is a relative term....ikke7777
Just to give you fair warning, you are not allowed to talk about homebrewed stuff around here.
I doubt so really. It was a waste for me as I had just gotten my DS last year. :( I'm thinking of replacing it as my favourites such as Professor Layton's Devil's Flute will be up for 3DS only. Additionally, I've seen lots of games under development specially for 3DS only. Pretty upsetting.
That would be very frustrating. The main plus side to getting a 3DS early is that you guarantee it won't be outdated a year later. Yes, they'll likely make a number of upgraded versions like they have done with the DS series, but they'll still play all the same games. The DS is technically getting pretty old now, so if you want to get the most enjoyment out of a system generation, purchasing it early on is always the smartest thing to do. I'm sure the 3DS will also last for 5+ years before getting replaced by the next generation of systems.I doubt so really. if there is any game worthy enough of going back and playing from GBA at this point in time with so much on the horizon, then Nintendo will probably release it in the virtual console for 3ds service for 10 bucks or so.
Yes keep the DS for at least 6-12 months after the 3ds release. I personally think the 3DS will be like the WII when it first came out. anyone remember how hard it was getting a WII on release because I sure do. The 3DS is going to be so epic and amazing. So yeah keep the DS until you manage to get your hands on the 3DS at least. Hope I helped.
I didn't want to make another post (i searched and Voila! xD)
So, When the Nintendo 3DS will come out ?

In my opinion why would you even think that. I mean if you are not planning on getting the 3DS or just don't have the money then there would be a big reason to own a DS.
They need to have a feature in the 3DS to play GB and GBC games. That would be beast.F0URZ3R0TW0But then Nintendo couldn't charge you money to buy the games again at stupid prices!! Nobody wants that! Well we consumers do, but Nintendo doesn't care. :P
Like most other people mentioned: the GBA slot. Other than that aspect, there isn't any point in keeping one minus collection purposes.
