If it ever drops, it won't be for a while and won't be a huge drop. The DS/DS Lite only dropped $20 in over 4 years.

The DSi sold MILLIONS in the first week they were released. How is that not good?

I'd say two years after the new generation of handhelds come out (in about 4 years).

But by then, you won't want a DSi anymore. I'd just save up for one now.

It will drop when Nintedo decides to kill the DS brand. It would be much smater for Nintendo and much better for me If they extend the lengh of the generation because there consoles and games are selling and it will allow developers to push the system in areas other than graphic which would allow for better games.

The DSi was the best selling system for the past couple months in both Japan and US. I think in Europe as well.

It takes you 14 months to get about $190?! Damn, isn't that only like $13 or $14 a month? Maybe a price drop isn't the real issue, and instead you might want to get a job, re-organize your priorities (As in, if you live on your own and money is short, maybe the DSi isn't your most important goal right now, I mean, for now, it offers nothing the Lite doesn't except a bad quality camera.), or just try to grab it as much extra cash as you can monthly, to drastically reduce that time, because a year and 2 months seems like way too long for $180 plus tax...

Probably won't. The Gameboy Micro hasn't dropped much... and that didn't sell like at all.

it is outselling the Lite by a lot

5 million total units in a short time

don't expect a price drop until a PSP price drop or they stop making DS lites, which once NA gives up on DS Lite like JP already did, they will but probably not until 2010

Don't expect that anytime soon especially when the DS Lite is still selling well.

14 months is a lot quicker than waiting for a price drop. Save well and work hard!

Nintendo has stated that there will not be a price drop unless absolutely necessary. In other words: ain't gonna happen.

"In my personal opinion, when prices fall as time passes, it's like manufacturers are saying to consumers that they should wait. I've always thought something was wrong with that.

Of course, I don't mean to rule out lowering prices no matter what happens, but I've always wanted to find a way to avoid disappointing those who try the hardest to support our newest products by purchasing them during the launch periods. I don't want them to think it was a waste for them to do so." Iwata

Translation: Unless DSi sales are dangerously low and there is no other remedy, there will be no price cut.

DSi? Price drop? *laugh a lot and point at TC*.

Good joke. lol.

J/K. The two situations i've seen a price drop is when the thing has stopped the production (AKA DS phat) or has low sales.

^ Don't use gay as an insult or anything of the sort kthnx.

Yes, you should keep saving and start now, even on a pathetic amount that you get.

Or start counting down the days until Christmas; which ever one is closer.

But seriously, ask for a raise in your pay or allowence. I make more then you make in a month in a week. And I'm not talking my paycheck, I'm talking my allowence. =/

Look around. It's not that Nintendo will drop its price BUT the stores need to push their inventory. I've seen several good bargains for the DSi already - $169 plus a game at Walmarts online store.

Around Christmas there will probably be a lot of sales.

does anyone know if and when the dsi price will drop?martinX3X

I was supposed to get a dsi for this Christmas, luckily, My ds lite broke (it gets better) and I had warranty on it. it was bad for the 2-4 weeks, but my reimbursement gift card for $140 came, and my mom paid the rest, and I got it for passing my classes. so, in the end, I got it 6 months early! I give hope u have bad-to-good luck like I did :D

On topic: it will drop as soon as Sony and Microsoft create the PS360

but seriously, It wont happen any time soon.
