when will we see the new 3ds firmware update

any news on when the exact date the 3ds firmware update will be available?

Hahaha, Love the horror reference. Anyways, I think they should give a date or something, on one hand it would be cool to receive the surprise of the update when you open the 3DS on the morning, but waiting uncertainly is not cool at all.

People have been so impatient with the 3ds. It's a new system for goodness sakes. Let them take their time with the online service so it can be flawless. We don't want what happened to psn happen to the eshop. Especially since there will be credit use when buying games. So let nintendo take their time.

Figures, Nintendo is preparing a major system selling feature to roll out in a matter of weeks, and they are doing no press for it.

They are just going to throw it out there, maybe give us 1 week of pre-release info, and then months later be shocked when first party and third party games don't sell well on 3DSWare, or when whatever video service they put out fails.

They should be previewing features for it on sites, and in mags, and on the Nintendo channel since 3DS's release.

Why they are planning this so close to their chest is odd. I get it that they don't want the iOS Model of downloads to devalue full retail releases, but they could at least plug and promote the VC and other software coming with the update.

But then again, this is Nintendo and we won't even have game demo's on the eShop (Well demo's to store on SD cards)

Apparently the date for the firmware update was just announced on Nintendo's website. At least for Japan it's June 7th, the same day as E3. Here's the link. That sucks that it was slightly delayed but at least we have a date.

June 6 everywhere (it will be the 7th for other parts of the world).
