depends on the game. i don't need headphones for castlevania, but i use them for resident evil so i don't run into a zombie around a corner. same goes for my psp, i only use my headphones for metal gear so i can hear who is in the area.
Mostly through the speakers, but sometimes through the headphones when I don't want to bug others later in the evening.
Sometimes, though, like another said.. it depends on the game. Metroid Prime, Castlevania, Lunar Knights, Mega Man, Mario Kart.. I'll throw on the headphones.
Usually speakers since I usually play alone in my room. But sometimes I use headset if others are around or when my fiance is taking her daily 2 hour nap.

Speakers at home, earphones outside and in public. If my roommate is resting, headphones. If he's awake and playing on his PC, speakers. I usually put sound on, and on games where sound is important (EBA, Osu! Takaedan! Ouedan!, Resident Evil DS), I use headphones for the heightened sound quality level . Listening through the hp output is higher quality than listening through those grizzly DS Lite speakers, I'm afraid to say :(

Speakers... unless im like in a loud area and i can't hear the sound. Like in the car w/ faimly...,.They hate hearing music so i just use headpphones Usally speakers
