There was a problem with my DS, which was not my fault, so I'm gonna complain to the store where I bought it. According to the law, I can demand that they get it repaired or that I get a new one for free. That's why I want to know one thing:

When you save the game, is it saved on the DS or on the game chip? Because if it is saved on the DS, I would like my DS repaired, but if it is saved on the game chip, I'd rather have a new one (which would save me some time).

I don't think the DS has any internal writable storage to speak of (besides the system menu stuff). Everything gets saved to the game cartridges.

the DS uses the exact same kind of storage method as the GBA or any other cart system post nes era.

it saves game data to the Cartridge.. or Game card in this case.

The DS only has a limited amount of writeable space designed to store system based functions found in the DS configurations menu. Every game that has a save feature saves locally on the cartridge. Just curious, which game is not saving properly and did you buy it retail or on ebay?

I havent come across any DS games that have been forged and whatnot...only GBA games and of those GBA games...not a single one saved properly at all. (i got unlucky with two bids on ebay where the cartridges were forged...got my money back though)

game data is saved onto the game chip thats why whenever you buy a used game from gamestop for the first time it already has data on it.

but when saving game demos it saves it onto the ram of the system thats why when you download a demo and you turn off you ds it's gone

Game data is saved on the game card but online games act as a pair with the DS. This means if you have any online DS games and get a new DS, you will lose all of your online data like scores and ranks. It is possible though to send the online memory on your DS to a different DS through DS Download Play. You just need both DS's with you.
