this thread is to discuss where you shouldn't buy games. i'll start with wal-mart. I probably couldn't even list all the labor laws wal-mart has broken, here is a url: [http://wakeupwalmart.com/facts/]

[QUOTE="hydralisk86"]Gamestop. They sell used games as new,m1993
I've gotten a game that I wanted new, and it actually had saves on it...
The same exact thing happened to me a few days ago.
I paid $30.00 for a used game. D:

Hahahah, this proves even more than gamestop is a bad place. I bet if we asked everyone on the forums who've bought games, there will be a large number of people who've experienced what you people did.I've only ever had good experiences with Gamestop.
Maybe there are two companies? One is a cabal of cackling corprate executives price gouging the average joe, and the other is a normal company with lax trade-in policies.
Gamestop/EB Games for sure. I was going buy Trauma Center-Under the Knife for the DS. I wanted it new, so the clerk finds the game in a HUGE bag of games they had. He searched the Trauma Center for about 5 minutes and tried it out in his DS. Then I saw him erasing the saved file in it. So, I ended up not buying it:P Spade_Crisis
Wow, thats pretty sad...
I dont know what the heck is wrong with your Gamestops, but I hardly ever go anywhere else. The service and selection is amazing. They know me and a lot of the times they will take the time to tell me all about new games out and what is coming up. Which I find very helpful. Also they know what kinds of games I like, so sometimes when they have used games that they havent put out on the shelf yet they will let me know about it.
The worst place ever is Walmart. I wont even get within 100 yard of one of their stories, much less step foot inside, and they will never see a penny of my money.
[QUOTE="Fishn4Zora"]Dollar General, they can't be trusted.iamsammy71
They sell games at Dollar General? :P
lmao yea they do. the dollar general near my house sold that new firepro wrestiling and some other game on PS2hahaha, Dollar General...
Yeah, not sure whats up with your gamestops. Mine has always been kind to me.
I would have to say Wal-mart is one of the worst if for nothing more than their tiny 'selection' of games. If you can call 25 DS games aimed at the age 10 and under demographic a selection.
Gamespot is iffy for me.
i bought Need for Speed Prostreet "new" for the PS3 from gamespot, the lady got the disk out of their shelf, and went to go find the box...and asked if i wanted it shrink wrapped. i asked here "What the ___(use your imagination)!!" its new but opened an everything? so i told her that didnt seem right an after 5 minutes of "talking" she brought down the price from $60 new to $40 used...(not a DS game...but still:evil: )
also, i wanted Castlevania Portrait of Ruin(obviously its only used since this was only a few months ago). so i went to one GS, and they had it but only the Card. so i bought it for like 17bucks, took it home...and it only worked half the time. so i took it back an told them they sold me a damaged game -i got my money back an they let me keep the Card(kinda dumb since i could sell the damaged card if i was f'ed up). the jerks dont even check if stuff is re-saleable? geez
the next day i went to a different GS, they had the game, box, and manual in good condition, i asked the clerk to try it out, which he did, and i bought it, for 17bucks...amazing. (that dude that worked there deserves a medal for not bein a jackhole but a cool guy)
i have only bought one New game from them, Advance Wars Days of Ruin, the exact day it came out.
I don't know why every one hates EB and gamestop.
Sure, I don't like how they gut games, but the gutted games i've bought were deffinately unused. The service i get is excellent. The worst ecperience I ever had was the clerk accidentally putting the wrong games inthe box. I took it back the next day and everything was quickly fixed for me.
the only thing I really don't like is how they but stickers on their used game manuals
I've never had trouble at the gamestop near me. All the employee's there are awesome (they'll even play guitar hero with you). The worst place to buy games from is Wal Mart. I went there to get The World Ends With You on Wednesday and they didn't have it so I had to settle for LoZ: PHcreator101
The reason you don't like a store is because they didnt have the game you wanted?

No one's forcing you to buy a game. Usually when you want a game that a store doesn't have you take your business elsewhere.

Disliking a store because it does not have the game you wanted is an illegitimate reason. It is just like a Jew disliking McDonald's because it is not a kosher resturant.
Reasons like poor customer service or questionable store/business practices are legitimate reasons. I think concerns over ethics or labor practices are legitimate as well, but it is interesting that people who complain about WalMart's labor practices do not concider that the video game consoles are made in China, a non-democratic country.

As sad as it is I've had the same thing happen to me a couple times. It's even worse when you ask them if it's been played as it's out of the box and they say no... then get home and it's got the intials of the store manager used for the save game that's 100% complete.
I went back in and asked if it had been played and they were sure it hadn't.. then I said "who's MJB" here? The guy I was talking to was the store manager, he says "that's me, why?".. Oh well my game says you solved it and I showed him the save game. It ends up he goes in to his long store check out policy speal so the game isn't used or played as used in his mind.....
Needless to say I just simply say no if it's not shrink wrapped.
I hate Gamestop.
When I went in to buy my DS there, I wanted to get Mario Kart with it, but they only had it used. Even though I hate buying used games, I just bought it because I didn't want to have the DS without any games.
The game costed me 30 bucks used, when normally it's 34 dollars new there. Boy did I save a lot of money... And they probably bought it off some poor kid for 8 bucks.
Also another time, I went to buy Super Mario 64 DS. After purchasing the game and gettiing my change back, the clerk person walked away without handing me my game. I could tell he wanted me to walk away, and forget about taking my game. I didn't want to reach behind the counter though, because it would look like I was stealing something. I had to go and tell him that he forgot to give me my game. He gave me that fake 'whoops' expression and then hastely gave me my game. Jerk.
And the whole place feels really gross.
The Only place I've had bad experience with is Ebay. No matter how good feeback the seller is I always get ripped off and sent Bootlegged games :(
The stores in Europe are quite reliable and don't know anybody who has had many bad experiences. Though prices in Europe are a lot higher :(
That sucks. I guess I should think about not buying games off of ebay. The Only place I've had bad experience with is Ebay. No matter how good feeback the seller is I always get ripped off and sent Bootlegged games :(

I've had good and bad experiences with Gamestop.
The ones around my place usually aren't that bad, most people there ACTUALLY HAVE AN INTEREST IN VIDYA GAMEZ.
Toys R Us. Horrible selection of game and horrible service. I went to Toys R Us for the buy two get one free deal. I asked if they had TWEWY and they said no. I asked if they could look in the back and they said it wasnt in the back (they didnt even check). I went to see what other games they had, and it was a horrible collection of games. Barely anything interesting. I ended up buying Rondo of Swords, Professor Layton and Megaman Starforce 2. So I go to check out and they asked for an ID. I wondered why and they said that Megaman Starforce 2 was rated M. It clearly said it was rated E on the box. They said it was rated M in their system, so I had to give an ID. After all of that, the price was around 90 dollars. I said it should be less because of the sale. The cashier called for assistance and the guy said it is only Nintendo games for the DS. Of course the ad said all Nintendo DS games. After a while he finally took one of the games off. Man that was a horrible experience I had. JakendoHow you kept your composure is beyond me, if you did.
