July: When the wii first came out it was supposed to have a substantial online set up with a few of the lauch games online.

Launch: The launch games have no online content ok... Well they will get something in the next few months.

Now: Where the [censored] is my online games.

What happened, does the wii not have enough online capability to play games or will the online games always be just another few months away.

Not having an online capaility by June Will suck (SSMB, Battalion Wars 2)

Not that im saying wii games are bad without online, its just that it was hyped so much that if it folds alot of people will be dissapointed

I dont remember anything about it being online hyped as nearly to the extent that the system itself was. Developers need time to develop, nobody seems to be able to comprehend that.

and don't be like "Oh, but the XBOX 360 and PS3 already can go online"...That's because XBOX Live and Sony Online have already been established well before those consoles were released.

Nintendo is releasing the first online game (Pokemon) in June.  After that you can expect to have more online games.

Relax, dude.  XBL took a full year after the launch of the original Xbox  to start up.  Let Nintendo take their time and get it right form the start.  Maybe they're working on a way to play online without having to enter 15 different friend codes.

exactly. have you guys ever seen the video with a nintendo rep explain what strikers online will be like? from what ive seen, your miis act as your profiles, just like xbox live. but i guess each mii will have its own code, because im sure there are more people with the name justin.

i just hope they get away from the stupid friend code sh*t at least to me its really annoying,im not a little kid ya know? i dont need protection from who i can and cannot come in contact with through online play. the wii has (for the most part) unrestricted internet access!! unless you set parental controls, isnt that worse than just playing a FPS against someone you dont know? now for sending personal msgs and what not, that i can understand with the friend codes, but not misc. online play where all you see is other players names above their heads, thats just stupid.

there,i got my rant about friend codes out. now on to what i was going to say at the beginning...i dont think online play will be abandoned, like someone else said,it took about a year for xbox live to start. nintendo makes good products, maybe not when you compare tech specs, but in quality and ingenuity they own all. they take the time thats necessary to make a good, working product, and wii online play shouldnt be any different.

Nope, haven't seen the vid.  I don't have a problem with the friend codes.  Its really nothing more than a buddy list.  My thing is that I hope that's not the ONLY way to play online.  That would suck.

Yeah that vid is great. FCs aren't the only way to play. You have I think 4 modes it's almost like the 360 and lobbies. It looks awesome and I don't care about FCs either but they are implemented great here   I could only find this youtube version but it's still showcased the same.

I really hope the online games aren't like the DS online games, and what I mean by that is the DS doesn't have that much online games. Maybe I'm comparing too much to the PSP, PS3, or the 360 but I think developers, especially third party developers, should put online play. Playing Call of Duty or Red Steel would have been fun.

Ya I guess I am a bit impatient but Im so anxious for online games. I hope that it has got a like open room and you dont have to find each and every persons wii code to play with them. Hopefully the wii remote sound can be used to talk to other players, that would be impressive.

P.S. Srry for censor avoidance

Once again blame the developers. Also Nintendo doesn't want garbage online functions where online wouldn't be needed. The DS also has some technical limitations on it's online that requires a lot of effort on the part of third parties to overcome.

DS has a great deal of wifi action though. Most games if they support it one cart provides a gameplay expierence to multiple DS owners who don't have the game. You can also send them a demo from the game.

Most wii online if it is multiplayer will be both friend codes and random matches.

No, this time it actually is Nintendo's fault. Third party developers want to implement online features right now, but Nintendo isn't letting them. It said so in the latest issue of EGM.

The Wii is 6 - 7 months old bro... Developers didnt have the tools before the Wii was even launched to produce WiFi games. And you heard it from EA, they all thuoght Nintendo was going to lose, but now they are playing catch up. Not just EA, but various developers. Nintendo recently released there kits to developers to make there games WiFi enabled. I read the news not so long ago, probably few weeks back. It takes more then 2 - 3 months to make a game, let alone make it amazing and WiFi capable. Im going to start calling complainers Spoiled Gamers, please feel free to call people you believe to be spoiled, spoiled gamers. Because Nintendo is doing all it can, and it is doing very well. Yet some of its fans seem to think they are Bill O'Riley and can make hard hitting arguements... Please, you are in game site, let alone in a forum! Your here to discuss about games, not to complain or bash...

If you watch the Strikers charged online video, you would see that you don't need friend codes to play against other people. The game itself is going to be setup in a league like fashion where you earn points for winning etc... also you will only need friend codes to play against friends, and those matches wont be ranked i. e. they wont count for points on the league table etc, as you could play a friend and let them win for points. Also for people that disconnect they will lose points for doing so.

If you're from Europe you'll get the first wii online game at the end of may :) just a couple of weeks left :D. Overall I think from what I saw on the videos the online will be pretty decent.

Oh, wonderful, guess I can assure myself that I won't be buying another Wii game until next year. The last one I bought was Trauma Centre back in January. I'm beginning to join that bandwagon of those questioning their Wii purchases, since honestly, it's been the worst system I've ever touched thus far.  There hasn't been a game that I can take note was "Better than expected," or hell, even live up to the hype (and don't bring up Wario Ware, which is too short or Super Paper Mario, too easy, I hated both, and weren't worth  the hundred dollars I would've paid for them if my friends didn't let me play their copies first.) I can't see SSBB or SMG being that good that it was worth waiting a year (hell, possibly even longer) without other good games to play, to buy. Sorry for my rant, I can expect the typical responses, but that's life. Have a nice day.

(By the way, anyone hear about RE: EC being sumbed down? Ouch...)

where was the nes online games?, where was the snes online games? where was the n64 online games? where was the gamecube online games? answer japan to all the above or get the hint nintendo is happily a home multiplayer console. about 6 million wii consoles sold based on home multiplayer, a controller and zelda, who needs online. nintendo has traditions and values their not going to sell out, there going to slowly develop, get used to it. by this i mean they will continue to make the best games possible how ever long they take to release, and that go's for if online is right or not for the game, it wont be added to games it doesnt suit. unlike other consoles where online play is a must then a weak game will be developed around it.
